Glass Door Ratings

Rather unusual number of recent activities from "former employees" appearing on Glassdoor. They give Schwab company 5-star approval rating and have one short sentence each under "Pros" and "Cons". Almost a bit cookie-cutter response. Makes me wonder how reliable and trustworthy any of these sites are.

They've been doing this ever since the first TD employee asked pigeonhole why Schwabs engagement and employer rating scores were so much lower than TDs. We like to cover up problems here, not solve them.

I don't think you can blame Glassdoor. You can't expect them to separate the real deal [ex-]employee wheat from the HR sponsored chaff. Or for that matter even Schwab in this case, in the sense that most companies with an employee experience headed south do this. "Pros: Everything. Cons: Can't think of anything. 5.0" You see those a lot for lots of companies and you know they're B.S. I just ignore those. (In fairness, I don't give a ton of credibility to the low outliers either: the one person that hates everything about the place when there are a bunch of non-5.0 reviews with mixed critiques. It's the ones in the middle that are most relevant IMHO.). I've been in the workplace for 47 years, 35 in this field, and worked in some wonderful shops. I've left Glassdoor reviews for a few of them, but never have and never would post a "5.0, Can't think of any cons." for any place I've ever worked. Come on now.

Don't tell me that this is what communications team has been up to instead of planning out a sensitive, well thought out way to break the layoff news...

I've never seen transparency at Schwab. They can't even be transparent about what they want me to work on at times and try to keep it a secret.

Like how they removed most questions about leadership from the glint survey this quarter.

Rick: Transparency is a hallmark at Schwab.

Do these people cringe when they lie?

They are definitely trying to manipulate the rating in their favor. That’s why, when job hunting, I always give greater weight to the negative reviews with real substance.

I noticed the same thing. I think they are trying to bury the negative ones back in June because they are now struggling with recruitment after the policy change and layoff news
