Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

DW PAC begging

The company asks it's workforce to donate money to their political wing after record profits, gutting benefits and moving jobs overseas.

How about you kiss my a-s?

Are people in management this tone deaf?

@3eyv Even if everything you said were true (it’s not), you’re still not worth $180k+ per year or anything close to it.

Besides, A.I. can scan for errors, etc. It can also be trained on whatever specs you use. Just ask all the “consultants” who’ve already been put out of business by it (good).

OP I'll donate all the RSU that I'll receive at the end of the year to the PAC. So Darren if you want me to donate give me some RSUs. Otherwise you'll get nothing. Let's see what you decide.

@1rbw+1pAwBkPa Copy and paste@ $20 per hour without including the cost of reviewing and quality checks and also corrections and fixing of everything they touch! No real savings even at a dirt cheap rate!

But but but at the bottom it says I won't be discriminated against if I choose not to donate....

Make no mistake about it, they track the PAC donations. If you want to move up 2 points in your ranking then give 10K to the PAC.

@1nbb You sure you want to go down that road?

If you’re an IC sitting in Spring with 10+ years of exp, you’re probably pulling in over $180k/year to do little more than send emails. They can get a PhD in Bangalore to cut & paste text from an API standard and send it to a contractor for less than $20/hr.

If you’re unhappy, go find someone who will pay you as much to sit around and complain about your job.

Dear Darren, please consider the gap between what EM should be paying me vs. what EM actually is paying me as my contribution to the PAC.

Asked me for $1000. Is the amount requested based on salary or CL?

Yeah, I'm not having my money go to insane people screaming about chem trails and can't be in rooms with women without their wife. To answer your question, no management is not tone deaf or stupid. They just don't care because they've got everyone here in their pincers. I guarantee you the first time DW saw that email is the same time we all saw it. Now that he's not underpaid anymore, I doubt that clown still wipes his own a-s.

@1xae The money usually gets thrown at reactionaries too.

Of course they don’t mention this when they’re soliciting donations, but most public officials backed by EM represent the most retrograde elements in our society.

This happens industry wide. Every oil company I've worked for has asked for PAC donations.

Marked it as “suspicious email”

This is a long-standing practice in the company.
It's not a shake-down, but, for a HiPo, throwing a grand or two out there is a good move.

Civics 101. It is an employee PAC so has to be funded by employee donations. ExxonMobil also makes corporate donations which are reported in the SEC filings. I agree that there are serious leadership challenges and gaps and shortcomings at Exxon, but asking for employees to donate to a PAC that advocates on behalf of Oil and Gas is not one of them.

Agree, what friggin joke. I saw, "message from Darren," thankfully i didn't ready but scrolled to the bottom and saw "we encourage you to join the EM pac" INSTA-DELETE.
this company treats the vast majority of employees like they are a 'necessary evil,' a 'problem to be dealt with.' Exxon, take your fu--ing PAC and shove it so far up your a-s your tonsils feel it.

Well, we are replacing the cash generating company (U/S) with a cash losing, government-needed, non-profit (LCS)… new Exxon is going to be begging for cash EVERY year as we become dependent upon government handouts.
