If Farley has been to all of the plants and used the same restrooms as the workers then isn't it implied that he is ok with what he saw? He has the resources of the entire company under his control and it didn't sound like there was anything going on to improve it.

A real leader would have had plans in progress that he could cite offhand. Instead he was caught on the back foot and tried to act like he empathized despite being at a minimum complicit in these working conditions existing.

One thing I don't miss about working onsite is the gross bathrooms too much of the time. I would hate to be that inspector.

Fixing the plant or office facilities is easy if the will to do so exists... the real problem is how did they get to this point and why does it take an appeal to the CEO and Chairman for the Board to get something done? There are countless so called "leaders" who know and knew this was problem and it was not getting fixed. The CEO and Chairman need to address this problem and make sure it never happens again. The company rewards these "leaders" for the wrong reasons. And this problem is not new, it has existed for decades, Ford + really means the usual Ford incompetence plus a little more.

Bill spoke from the heart? 🤣

That's cause his brain has been gone for 20 years.

@1ttz+1jpj9Ey7 all the trades are too busy renovating the Train Station, as soon as that is done they will get busy renovating MAP.

@1rdc+1jpj9Ey7 Joe Hinrichs would have fit those criteria but Bill sent him packing.

I was at the town hall 3 rows back from the plant employee who spoke. He was articulate and respectful the entire time. He detailed the deteriorating state of their facility, break rooms, food options, bathrooms, everything. He spoke in very measured and deliberate words for strong impact. He stated he was speaking on behalf of the entire MAP team and that it was unacceptable and that they needed change "NOW".

The inference I took was that this was reason to strike.

Jim, instead of being a leader, responded by making it about himself and how good he is. "But I've visited the plants... I'm a man of the people...I know what you're going through and it is unacceptable." Blah.

Not until 10 minutes later did Bill F jump in and speak from the heart, which is what Jim needed to do first. Leadership 101. Hear the message behind the message.

Bill said he hurt with them, heard the issues and agreed that it was unacceptable and that work would be done quickly to address it. It was a big deal to him. He seemed genuine. Jim seemed to think it just didn't fit his personal narrative of how great Ford is.

The Quality manager spoke up and did detail the plans that are in motion, what's being done, including that he has already planned to visit the plant regarding the issue immediately after the meeting.

Ford should be able to marshall the trades, pay for it, and just fix it. Whatever it is, plumbing, walls, tile work, just get it done. Pay the money. What he described could be fixed in 2 weeks or less with the manpower and funding.

After Bill jumped in to do damage control from the heart, my guess is that this is what will happen or the plant staff will talk about striking. Note: the MAP employee never talked about striking, only that it needed to be fixed NOW.

They will probably edit the recorded town hall before posting it as well. LOL

Serious leadership problems eh? Total Lack of trust and Lack of confidence in leaders from employees. The BOD should take note and remove several leaders along with the empty suit people they have brought in, including Doug Field.

Looking around I don’t know who they should elevate. It needs to be an engineer. It needs to be someone who isn’t self-centered and abusive. It needs to be a team player and someone people trust. Maybe someone like Lisa Drake?

Remember last time, Jim and Kumar were caught off guard when people in the chat of town hall to display their displeasure about the bonus. After that, the chat function was turned off in all the subsequent meetings.
This time, Jim was caught off guard when the MAP guy spoke up.
Next time, Jim may want to stop the live streaming , and only show the playback after editing out any surprises.
LOL.

I'm retired but do know Michigan Assembly has gotten rid of two plant managers in under 5 years so the plant manager that spoke up was new. Also Michigan Assembly has the Bronco and Ranger, neither is electric.

Ford is rather like the Catholic Church, they move problem managers around. The problem Chicago plant manager were moved to other plants over the years instead of being fired. The ones that get fired did something to offend higher ups (unrelated to their failings as a manager).
The senior leadership approach over the years was Ignore, Deny, Cover Up, only when SHTF like a NYT expose are fake actions taken like shuffling managers.

Kudos to the MAP guy in this morning’s Townhall… my question is this…. Why hasn’t” the UAW done anything about this????? Why is anyone paying Union dues for such incompetence????

What is so surprising? The UAW members all vote to give their jobs away to the EV future. Are they waking up?

Buildings in Dearborn are rotting away with disgusting bathrooms, flooded ground floors, smells everywhere. Morale is in the gutters. Everyone knows EVs are a fad, and can't stomach working for this company.

Congrats to MAP for saying what needs to be said.
Jim asked the guy in the audience to answer and he spoke about launch.
No answer or commitment about a plan to go.
Joke.
Bad enough to be working through covid while everyone complains from home.
Get told you are not smart enough to work in new electric world.
Bill did not look happy.
Too much.

It was nice to hear someone point out that there a LOT of issues top level management ignores in the pursuit of the latest trend. Morale is in the toilet, and the bathrooms are fubar!
