Working at EM is like being in an abusive relationship. Regular employees always justifying management for the bad treatment they get. Acting like there is no way out. Saying it's not that bad. Claiming the grass is not greener on the other side. We are frogs in a pot of water, and Irving is cranking up the heat to get people to leave....but many can't accept the reality. Employees are at the bottom of the list for priority, and senior mgmt has no qualms about straight up lying.

Exxon has no reason to treat their employees well, and neither does any other company that sells oil.
The industry is in decline. All of these companies have business strategies that reflect this. Flat salary curves, disappearing benefits, toxic culture, high attrition, and outsourcing are all par for the course, with a massive dollop litigation heaped on top. Don’t forget the unapologetically sluttish subsidies these companies secure via lobbying, which actually accounts for much of their “profits”.
Exxon and similar companies are not capitalist institutions. They’re something else entirely.
Blaming you for abusing the ‘flex your day’ policy when every other company would give you so much more flexibility and without judgment
Blaming you for being unappreciative of your pay when every other company pays more and has given higher raises
Blaming you for failing to launch your own career when every other company would proactively offer you better roles.
@OP And like most such relationships, the abused party has the option to walk away, but for whatever reason won’t take it.
Seriously fellas, if you get to a point where you’re saying stuff like this about your job, just move on.
They keep saying that people are the most important asset, but the actions don’t back this up.

Gaslighting is standard fare - at the org level.
For some, such as myself, being chained in a DeSade's basement would be preferable.
At least there is some real pleasure obtained there.

Estimating that I’ve seen 15 leave Uncon in last 5 years and none have regretted it. Pay isn’t adequate.
