Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

What to say on the call if Im on the LR list monday

I dont want to give the slightest sign I care about being layed off here. I really feel that since this is a bi-yearly thing I will be better off getting severance and having time to relax and job hunt rather than find a new job anyway and quit ASAP which is definitely what I will do if I am not let go monday. I think on a call my response is going to be something like "yep I got it, it is what it is, just read your script and send me the transition email, addios"

You lose your negotiating position if you are unemployed when looking for a new job. Stop trying to act cool and actually be cool in your pursuit of a better employment situation. It'll be painful in the short term but it will increase your options to make your life better. If you manage your income (both its acquisition and its investment) well you can escape the rat race early if you want.

@1rfw+1uvvQjUX "The person reading the script is only a messenger. She/he was not responsible for someone being laid off"

Are you serious dude your manager reads the script and is responsible for you being laid off.

"I dont want to give the slightest sign I care about being layed off here"

The person reading the script is only a messenger. She/he was not responsible for someone being laid off. They are also pained by it. No point in saying anything to her/him. Your emotions and responses are practically a don't care.

Tell them in the first 30 seconds that your attorney is also on the call. Record the event. Make popcorn in advance.

When i was layed off , once my manager had read me the script my response was " that's a relief" . Reverse psychology .

The script is the legal-eze part that is required. Where you shitheads think this is easy on some on of the FLMs is beyond me as a huge number of you need to be gone along with the ELT and yes, a lot of FLMs. I had a conversation with someone last week saying what they would do if they were notified. Well, next round be ready. I'm going to help you out thanks to the flawless guidance I'm getting from ICs and the layoff.com.

ask whatever questions I have
Do you actually get the chance to ask anything ?
I don't think you do, they are instructed to stick with the script and they won't comment or give you any details you can later use
I am quite sure it is going to be a script vetted by legal so there is no point in trying to find cracks by yourself.
Best you can do, if you plan to challenge that is to take it to your lawyer
It must worth doing that and you should have a solid case.

At the end of the day, even if I went out in a blaze of glory, it wouldn't change a thing, why waste the energy? It's better knowing what the call is about going into it so I don't throw up. I'll just be professional, ask whatever questions I have (which they won't be able to answer) and spend the rest of my access time going over the paperwork with a fine tooth comb. This will likely be the best thing that ever happened to me; working in a toxic soup of craziness is not good for the soul...I'm tired.

What ever you do - don't ask why.

That would be classic, probably the first time stupid manager asked to turn the dang camera off instead of on!

I just said okay and goodbye. Thought I played it cool but then accidentally dropped my work laptop that day. Had to return the laptop completely smashed but no one said anything
