Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Top brass are cowards

The AT&T leadership team needs to grow a pair and push back on Stanley’s constant attack on the workforce. Most of AT&T has not been full time office workers in almost 20 years. What happened to work/life balance, increased productivity measures, and being environmentally conscious. It’s all BS, this is an ego booster for Stankey and he’s following orders from Blackrock who owns him now.

@1eub+1vtYFu9d,

All good man, we are all in this together. Nothing that can’t be solved over a few cold ones.

***For some reason the mod keeps erasing this post, not sure what’s going on but maybe the mods need to chill.

"Metrics have now shown WFH has often been too much life in the work/life balance with part-time productivity and hours."

Actually, the recent studies have shown that there has not been any improvement productivity, or various business metrics (with the exclusion of some reduced head count costs for obvious reasons).

I apologize about the shoe lace comment, even though I am positive we disagree politically, I bet you are a really nice person and would probably find you to be a very interesting person and would get along very well with you.

Again sorry for my comment about you.

@1ruj+1vtYFu9d,

Well, none of those things are true, but I applaud you for your imagination. I don't think about you at all.

we all know that life always involves a little bit of connection and politics.

Agreed and some take better advantage of it than others.

One other thing I bet you have a masters degree or higher and cannot function socially , you are a 1st level manager (always will be) your house looks like a dump, drive a Corolla and are literally a book smart genius but dummb as a rock in day to day activities, like having to be told to bathe , how to put your underwear on with the tag in the back and where Velcro strap shoes because you have tripped over your untied shoe laces on several occasions over the years.
God bless you also

@1aos+1vtYFu9d,

I said people who actually do the work - that's meritocracy my friend, not socialism. That means companies who promote and reward employees based on their skills, experience, and performance, rather than their connections and politics. Of course, we all know that life always involves a little bit of connection and politics. You do you though, I'm sure you will be just fine.

@1drb+1vtYFu9d when the spoils are not shared more fairly amongst the people who do the actual work

Take your holier than now s0cialist bs else where bud. Because that is exactly what you are spouting, fair , shared why don’t you use joyous and opportunity also? Or how about from each according to his ability to each according to his needs. Stick it in your ear , Karl.

@kcw+1vtYFu9d,

Never said a word about rich people, I am happy for any individual to make as much money as they want or can. What I said is that there is a limit of my time and energy I am willing to give to another person or a corporation when the spoils are not shared more fairly amongst the people who do the actual work. Being a top performer isn't that hard in AT&T so I wasn't saying much, simply that you get more autonomy. I was just responding to your original wall of text in which you attempted to be insulting and explain how you have some kind of moral high ground when you don't. You lash out and project your own idea of how others should work. Now you are simply making up stories about a stranger on the internet. Good luck and godspeed bud.

Super top performer,
What? You complained about rich people stealing your family’s needs and respond with a book that makes no sense and was written by an over educated imbecile that can’t walk and chew gum and has to have their spouse drive them to work because they can’t read a map or follow directions.

@vsz+1vtYFu9d,

This is where you made a fatal error in judgement. As a top performer I already get the perks of almost complete autonomy in my work and I continue to deliver plenty of value to the company every quarter, year after year. My family and success are taken care of because I know how to balance my life in a way that benefits everyone. That may look different for you, but I am willing to bet that you do not even understand AT&T's core business at the level that some of us operate, pushing along innovation while you need to be told what to do. Does the work you do here really matter? Once you realize that the corporation doesn't care about you as a person you will become more attuned and focused to what actually needs to be delivered and done to improve the business. These jobs are transactional, they need results, and they will pay you handsomely for it. The only jealousy I see is that people like you who drink the Kool-Aid of all the bs you stated as necessary to be here don't like it when someone opposes your worldview. Like I said bud, touch some grass - your job is not your life.

But go ahead and keep listening to the people who do very little real work but make more in a day than you will make this year, and make sure you help them get that next quarter bonus over your own family's needs.

Spoken like a lifetime loser. Jealousy and zero work ethic. You will never go anywhere in life , you will always be middle class and complaining about “rich” people and how they have kept you down all these years. Your family’s needs are your responsibility not your employer, neighbors, politicians or anyone’s except yours period. You want to succeed and support your family? It is called , morals, integrity, ethics and hard work. If you have those traits you will most definitely succeed and lift yourself up from the middle class and be one of those evil everything was handed to them rich people. But judging by you comment you have none of those qualities and will spend the rest of your miserable life stuck in a low management middle class position complaining about how unfair life is . You should leave this company and take about 99.9% of the other whiny losers on this site with you

Most of you don't realize that this means more work for all of you. With these guys showing up more in the brass, they are going to need things to show the improvements or lack of. We have had record profits for last many years, so now with everyone here all the time that should double or triple right? Well, they will now need to say its working or figure out why you aren't doing enough to make it improve. Remember, they only view you as the issue when things aren't going so well. If things are better, it's because of some grand strategy they introduced.

Someone needs to touch some grass - you are defending a club you are not in. Performance and time are not always related. But go ahead and keep listening to the people who do very little real work but make more in a day than you will make this year, and make sure you help them get that next quarter bonus over your own family's needs. I can guarantee I can find inefficiencies in how you do what you do in AT&T every day, so spare us already.

It's not that the leadership is cowards. It's just that they don't care if workforce wants to work from home. Let's be honest. Human nature being what it is, you know a significant number of employees working at home aren't always paying as much attention to the job as they should.

this may come as a shock to many but your'e an EMPLOYEE at T , means you have an obligation to be here at the companies request be in 3,4,5 or 7 days a week.. outside of the labor contracts that stipulate hours etc. everyone else can go pound sand as far T management is concerned.
