Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

RTO is dead

That didn’t take long. Majority aren’t coming in and the rest leave after swiping.

This place is a clown show.

OP—Just because you’ve decided not to live your designation, stop trying to cause the downfall of others. You will be gone soon.

"Y'all realize the HVD gateway you initially connect to still logs public IP, plus check your environment variables of your HVD and you'll probably see your remote IP in there too... "

Yes obviously. If they push to track IP they can catch anything. The reports leadership is looking at aren't checking it right now. If getting that data was as simple as people are making it out to be, it would be on the report already.

I'm sure it will happen eventually because this company will stoop to any level to have an excuse to cut people.

The previous poster talking about HVD is absolutely correct. Will they add ip tracking to the report at some point?

I like that I can do less work than I did when remote. There is less accountability. For some reason, as long as people see you in the office, they think you're being productive.

The previous poster talking about HVD is absolutely correct. Will they add ip tracking to the report at some point? Maybe who knows. Do these orgs have it now? They absolutely do not. Badge swipes are satisfying the higher ups for now. They are looking at that, and it is being monitored for everyone.

Anything past that isn't a thing right now and anyone who says it is, is just trolling

For what it's worth. This whole tracking IP's is an urban legend. If you use HVD (hosted virtual desktop), you are bringing a device into the building and instructed per RTO policy to attach to the guest Wi-Fi and VPN in. Will it change later? Maybe. But right now the reports are badge swipes as primary data point.

Our team is pausing on RTO enforcement until after the HR implements Workday on 1/2/2024

Why would the rollout cause a group to pause RTO? Are you directly responsible for its rollout and the leaders want to keep the staff focused on the rollout and. To spend time commuting?

"so if they think they are getting away with skirting the rules they might be in for a rude awakening...if AT&T pulls IP reports - which is NOT difficult to do"

This is the problem with the whole thing. If AT&T were serious, they would have come up with a report that really tracks the behavior they say they want, FIRST. It would have been available to all supervisors on day 1. Supervisors would then have been expected to and measured on whether they held people accountable.

Instead, AT&T has to be them. Which means, give us a useless report. Make vague noises about enforcement but don't actually do it, or do it so randomly that it's reduced to an urban legend whether it happens or not or under what circumstances. And most of all, keep the REAL reporting in double secret probation status, so the people who actually could do something with it have no access to it.

Survey after survey, they're told: "give us the tools to do our job, expect us to do them, and get out of the way." But no, that would be too easy.

People think they are gaming the system. Location isn't only based on card swipe but IP. Internal IP addresses are different then VPN...so if they think they are getting away with skirting the rules they might be in for a rude awakening...if AT&T pulls IP reports - which is NOT difficult to do. If you are logged into the system they know if you are internal or external. But as a person said in a previous comment - "You do you". Just don't act like T doesn't know the game you are playing.

Our team is pausing on RTO enforcement until after the HR implements Workday on 1/2/2024. If people leave, we will be up a creek without a paddle because of the hiring blackouts. Plus, there is a fear that Workday will be a failure, like when Amazon rolled it out and couldn’t hire drivers, warehouse or customer service high volume roles. Workday is a full time job for managers. AI will help employees, but requests and approvals will bring managers to tears.

You wish. Keep pushing back, that’s exactly what they want. Every single person that has deviated has been identified and marked. You may think they forget…..bad strategy folks…but you do you.

It's d-mb to care. ... about anything because T doesn't care. We are all on here whining and complaining but it has no effect on how employees will be dealt with. Also will not change the low iQ level of leadership. In the office or not has no effect on anything. I was RTO faithful but still surplussed.
Some people relocate and still get surplussed. When you see leadership lie and mistreat, why should you care about anything?

Office is completely empty and kind of creepy by 4 PM. People may be coming in early - I can’t - but they are definitely leaving early.

Not what I see. It’s pretty packed by 7:30. People don’t start leaving until 3:30, but it’s still pretty busy even at 4:30. Fridays are a different story. But the rest of the days, it’s pretty full.
