Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Going in the right direction?

What is your opinion, is the company going in the right direction? Any toughts?
Recently my colleagues quit who have been very dedicated to their work here for years. Their reason: they think the company no longer offers any challenge and is going in the wrong direction.

Many organizations are dependent on people 5 years or less from retirement, with a strong lean to the or less side. The company did not do much hiring or development for a long period, so there aren't a great deal of experienced people to take their place. Hiring did pick up for the group under 40, but the turnover has been significant, and there are many positions that that group does not want. It is a big problem.

Post is correct. if it were not for the benefits place would be a ghost town. Never really recovered after F2000. Those old white guys in truck knew what the customer wanted. Allan came in there was a brief 8 year period when it went back to providing products people wanted. Well Billy has the keys again and like before he is in over his head.

@OP Strongly agree with your friends. The young and savvy already abandoned ship. Older workers are struggling and praying to reach retirement. Most of the best and brightest left for greener pastures. What's left are inexpert "know it all" FCG that don't know sh-t, people that got used to an easy paycheck because they are friends with management, and the ones too frightened or too comfortable to look for another job.

I am expecting another reorg soon, more hiring outside the US, and more errors down the line. Ford's is putting a lot of eggs in the BEV basket, instead of fixing what is broken inside the company.

Let's see... FMC's purpose is to drive human progress through freedom of movement. The vision for the future: Become the most inclusive and diverse enterprise globally. This was copied from Ford's website. I like more Henry Ford's purpose in 1907: to create "a motor car for the great multitude." Which is what made the company great, but we abandoned it to build cr---y expensive trucks for Americans while we waste valuable time becoming SJWs at work.

FMC is a manufacturing company, and as such, the purpose should be to create and improve our products, to be better at what we do every day. Do you want to see the mission and vision statements of a real car company? Copied from the website:

The Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., Inc. Mission and Vision Statements are as follows:
Mission Statement: "To attract and attain customers with high-valued products and services and the most satisfying ownership experience in America."
Vision Statement: "To be the most successful and respected car company in America."

Darn! Comparing the mission and vision statements between these 2 companies is like comparing the Ford Fiesta with the Toyota Corolla.

Thanks
