Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

TPG

PT in Nevada. So we were told that direct tv was bought out. My manager told us some months ago that nothing would change for us.
Now management is saying that all PTs are going to TPG. My union was very confused about this.

Can anyone help with this?

If your union is confused, then you need new representation that knows what’s going on. Professional representation doesn’t shrug their shoulders and say “I don’t know “. Professionals are involved at every level of a transition to a owner. Guess that is above the ability of CWA.

@1mxb+1cat1C7J, it is personal to every career, every person, every family that T has derailed & ruined. But you are correct that it isn't personal to the C-Suite and Board...they don't care how much they destroy in their quest to justify their ego.

Bye bye bye….as business units gets sold off, the people go with it. That is how T is improving their bottom line. People are expensive to keep on payroll. Not personal people, just business.

I agree with @1tjl+1cat1C7J. To add, ATT had a Q&A doc it shared with CWA

  1. 1 What are the details of the transaction?

AT&T and TPG signed an agreement to form a new entity, DIRECTV, which will own and operate AT&T’s U.S. video unit consisting of DIRECTV (consumer and business satellite services), AT&T TV and U-verse TV (excluding U-verse network assets).

Pretty clear that PTs are now TPG, not just legacy direct tv techs.

Here is what TPG says:

"This new company will own and operate the DIRECTV, AT&T TV and U-verse video services previously owned and operated by AT&T."

So yes, Cali and NV prem techs are now TPG. Doesnt make sense for att and tpg to have prem techs since they would each have to bargain contracts seperately.

There’s a binding contract that won’t allow T techs from not doing DTV, so things haven’t changed in that regard PT’s will continue to install and service the old T products including DTV. The TPG Texas goober management was out an about visiting various California yards this week and from what was talked about Prem Techs aren’t TPG but have an obligation to continue to work on their product as well as the fiber and copper ip. This may be different in other states though because as you may know T can unload other less profitable locations to others like they did in the northeast a while back.

You are not only in the wrong pew, you are in the wrong church. Go use your own layoff site titled Direct TV! You are no longer part of T.
