Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Why did all 3 VP's leave at the same time

My best guess is there was some kind of incentive or stipulation in their contracts that held them here until today. I couldn't see any of them leaving, without their shares being fully vested first.

"As the article says, they were ousted"

No the HEADLINE says they were ousted. Headlines are the least factual part of any reporting.

People don't "leave at the same time".

You bring it up to the CEO that you're leaving in three months' time. A month later someone else brings it up, then another. As a corporation you work with all three people to find appropriate timing. The goal is to lessen the impact and make only one announcement for all three people. Not three announcements, a month apart.

People are reading into this like they were fired on Monday morning, when these things are coordinated weeks, and sometimes months, in advance.

@1tlc+1k9h9AcU what do you think of other BUs?

some real dense people here. You think they all found and started new jobs on the same day? A monday no less......

All 3 of those BUs needed substantial help and rework. These leaders were essentially fired before the coming sl------r at year-end. Really, there was nothing for them to come back to. We all know security is going to be sold off, and now Tanzu is being folded into Cloud. Dont feel bad, they certainly got more than you ever will on the way out and will do better than those who will be cut.

New budgets for next year are being finalized along with input from BC as we are now in the integration phase. EU or not the Ax will be swinging in January

He is failed CEO.

As was the one before him -- never forget.

They probably were told they won't have a job post acquisition and they could leave now with a decent package. Too bad Ragoo didn't leave with them. He is failed CEO.

Their stock vested, they cash out, and moved on.

The deal was originally expected to close around this time. They could have given them incentive to stay until then. Just because the deal is now taking much longer than Hock wanted, doesn’t affect their agreement

What’s more likely - 3 executives stage a walk out over delving out layoffs or they had an exit clause in their contracts they all took advantage and of?

Lol no. There is a massive layoff coming and they didn’t want to sign off on it

Why would they have a parachute or contract with a mid Dec expiry?

Yea, prob had some new golden parachute negotiated - why I have no idea - and Hock knows it is best to just rip the bandaid off quickly.

Will not be watching the Magoo puppet show tomorrow.
