Please just lay me off. I’m still young, ambitious, smart and have dreams, and don’t want to age or retire in such an environment. 7 years here is enough. But apparently I just need some more balls to do the deed myself, and say goodbye to the 401K and steady income, and for that I take responsibility and it’s on my own shoulders.

Lotsa defending their abusers, that "interesting" enterprise. Lotsa gaslighting and Stockholm syndromes. Because they are brainwashed to believe it isn't horrible. Indoctrination + Enabling + Reinforcement from others who have also been convinced = What we have today. People don't use logic because they grow up with parent's or higher ups not wanting them to ask questions and just be obedient. So as adults they do what they learned to do growing up, just do what you're told and do what everyone else is doing.
Go and you can roll the 401k over to your next employer. Optum is a horrible place full of consciously biased racist bigots. Glad I walked.

Amigo–don't 'hate' anything. Love truth and reality-it's peaceful knowing that it was a corporation and not in any sense of the word, a 'country.' And the reason why the us empire and its' corporations are horrible is because of its' populace. They gleefully and voluntarily participate in the feces show. They want what is being offered.
This younger person needs real guidance, not cliche/normie 'advice.' They are just getting starting on the us empire's corporate merry go around with a 1st class ticket to nowhere. Who nows how much student loan debts, etc....and she/he must spin and spin for their owners.

The 401k is a US empire gimmick for the employees/simps. Most get pensions and real retirement packages, however, in feces dump usa, you get nothing and are supposed to be happy eating feces. For the young dude/gal stuck in that corporate swamp, keep skills fresh and the the get the bleep out once the gettings good. don't let 401k nonense and other drivel cloud your thoughts. most there are simply cowards and afraid, they live their "life" scared and frightened–that's exactly how it's supposed to be for the american sheep
Start working on your resume and LinkedIn now and start exploring what else is out there! Even if you’re not ready to make a move now, do some baby steps to get ready!
The 401(k) match here is pretty standard and you can take your plan with you when you leave or you may have the option to keep it under the UHG plan while you start building a new nest egg at your next gig!
Promo opportunities here are very limited so you’re better off looking externally.

If you really want to be laid off, just go to HR and complain. You will be laid off for sure. Never say you do not want to work for the company otherwise it will be considered a resignation. You have to be very careful what you say. You can complain about your boss or other issues but the reason you are in HR is to help the company get better. They will work you out for sure.
You only 1 life and this ain't a dress rehearsal. The 401k gimmick is a bad joke. IF they really cared abt their employees, you 'd be given a real pension, not some self directed, self deposited gimmick with some tiny match...if you need 'health' 'care' stick around by have side hustle and then bail or get laid off that way you might get some severance or other benies including a tiny unemployment check....they gave the citizens what 1200 bucks for 8mo!! Yet they $740,000,000,000 each year rubber stamped for war mongering.
