Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Is UK list ready?

I see in other posts managers in US know by now who in their team is affected. If that is true, does it mean leaders in UK , across EMEA already know as well?

I wonder if the VP will put that “Best place to work” message in his signature on the constitution emails. Maybe we can start a betting pool on that.

They won't let go of the VP and the SE management. I suspect they keep them for entertainment reasons, same as JP. The b@ld Patel duo do their whooping on Webex and LinkedIn to keep the ELT nicomp00ps amused and the VP is an expert on gaslighting anyone with a real question.

I still recall JP with a leaf-blower on an All Hands call. Not be outdone, his counterpart CP of UK, did a presentation a few days later on some new found hi-tech shaving process!! I mean, this is f--king Cisco, not Gillette! But hey, this is what our leadership look like. Bunch of buffoons on sugar high. So, yes, more of the same o, same o. The little, hard working, loyal folks have to pay with blood for the entertainment value of the jokers. The Circus is truly being led by the clowns. And like the last time, fully expect another insensitive "Let's Go!" celebrating "constant change" post on LinkedIn from CP right on the same day they layoff a bunch of people in the UK.

Hope they get rid of the VP and SE management. They have done nothing but destroy the UK business, employee morale, employee quality - heaven knows why these clowns are still around unless they are falsifying facts upwards.

So many awesome people have left by themselves and others laid off in the last 4 years.

Why do they take longer in Europe? With all the labour protections you’d think they’d be more considerate.

Wish all the best to the UKI and general EMEA theatres. We have another 6 odd weeks of uncertainty and stress to go through unfortunately. I have already updated my CV and started to send them out. Training and updating my skills (soft and technical) most of the time and trying to stay calm, doing the least workwise. I have received some first interview confirmations. Estimate that if I do get LR I should have alternate employment, hopefully (fingers crossed) by Nov-Dec or at least, by the new Year. In case I escape the chop this time, then getting something else will be nice anyway. Cisco UK is so political and toxic. Mentally debilitating. Management is very arrogant, intimidating, businesswise and tactically weak and political. The leaders are not leaders, they are too busy managing upwards and s-cking up to take care of the techies.

Never had any career graph anyway but I always thought that I would be left in peace. But that is gone now too. Loads of SE and architect positions coming up on LinkedIn at competitors and AI segment. I have reached out to connections in a few places. Hope to get the he-l out of here. Longer I stay, worse my chances are. UK organisation is dead. Getting interview ready

Get your skills up to date and get out or retire. The LR cycle will reiterate again in Feb25 and again next summer and is a permanent fixture in the calendar these days. But be warned, most other companies have little need of Cisco levels of PPT, BS and politicking.

The managers know for sure. 100%. My ex-manager told me so personally and he is still a friend. They cannot tell you earlier due to legal issues in countries such as Belgium and U.K. they’ll sweat you for an additional 6 odd weeks before unceremoniously kicking you out. Cisco family treatment. Best place to work.

“ This is not a stable professional environment for growth .”

This ^^^. So true. Longer you stay at the U.K. theatre lesser your market value is. Especially if you are low level manager or SE. The market perception of quality of Cisco employees is phenomenally low. Train up in an area of interest and get out asap, even for a lower salary - then build your career up. Longer you stay at Cisco worse it is for you.

People impacted by the February LR only got notified at the end of May in Belgium.
I wonder how this works in general: would the leader know the names already from the get go, or would they also be notified late? Or does it depend on the location of the leader?
Would a leader in the US having EU/UK impacted employees know if someone from their team is on the list earlier than a leader in the EU?

List is ready. Consultation email always says that position MAYBE at risk but that does not necessarily mean that it’s really at risk . That statement is in relation to the Business priorities your team has. So hang tight for the stress of another 4-6 weeks while DM has his fun writing the psycho emails with grammar mistakes and CP does his “change is the only constant “ routine. You may not be affected this time but it’s good to be ready . Get your CV sharp and start sending it out as jobs are starting to open up again. Even if you escape the axe this time, the same thing will repeat in 3 months and then again as you know. This is not a stable professional environment for growth . I left earlier in the year and is much happier now in every possible manner .

UK list is ready. Don't be fooled with the whole collective/individual consultation thing. If you're notified that your job MIGHT be at risk, then you're fired. There's no coming back from it as it has already been decided. The consultation bullsh-t is just legal nonsense to comply with UK legislation.

You may be safe if you are a Business Solutions Architect ( BSA) or a “storyteller” doing nothing but shooting your mouth off at meetings and drawing a Grade 12 salary . More completely worthless you are, more you are valued at the UKI org. I have seen a BSA out of the UK org promote himself as “CTO” on LinkedIn. If you are an a$$li---r, incompetent and political, then you should be absolutely fine in the UK

Yes. It's ready. And guess what? There's isn't a f--king thing you can do about that. Focus on job search, polishing your CV and applying. No matter what happens now, this will happen again at a smaller scale in Dec, then again in Feb, smaller scale in May and again in July-Aug... as has become the norm for the past couple of years. Get ready to exit one way or another.

Especially in Cisco UK which has been methodically eroded deliberately by the VP and the SE management for the last 3-4 years. There is nothing here.
Get off this site - there are a lot of nonsense here and being here will stress you out further. Relax and focus on job hunt. Grab anything you find even if its not optimal for the moment. Once you are out of this toxic sh!thole and have a base, then start looking for better options elsewhere. All the best.
