Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

How long do you think it will take you to find your next job ?

If you were just notified in December ? Honestly ?

Are you planning to have interviews soon ? Or will you be taking some more time off ?

I'm still employed but have been "casually applying" since Oct (e.g. wait for recruiters to reach out to me first, barely any applications manually submitted) to get my feet wet again in case I get let go. So far about 6 interviews, 2 went to second round (1 still on-going), lots of recruiters reaching out, lots of ghosting, in my late 20s/early 30s. Take this data as you will.

Finding a decent job in this new economy will take time, typically between 3 to 6 months, not unless you are lucky. Consider how recruiters collect resumes first (typically 1 to 2 months), do interviews (1 to 2 months), and then waiting game. This is reality.

@1oqf+18JmWFns. You must think a lot of yourself.

What a ignorant comment. People like you should have been cut first.

I’m starting my own company the day I’m off the payroll. Already lined up the capital, and Exxon is “providing me my salary” until I start generating cash flow. Blessing in disguise was what I was calling this the second I walked out of my bosses office. Eventually I’m hoping to hire some of the good talent I know that Exxon let go.

Are you talking about previous salary ? Or how much cash they have stashed away ?

Pretty sure most wont be finding jobs anytime soon. They would have to admit to themselves they arent worth the salary Exxon was wasting on them so its gonna be a while! My advice for those that got laid off is to try and find a government job. Most O&G workers are glorified government workers anyways so a government job is a perfect fit!

Better plan for 24 months.

Some a month, some maybe a year.

Fwiw, there are people who were PIP'd and took the PIL last year that are still trying to look for employment.
