Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Got the "Business Update" invite

Got the "Business Update" invite from my manager for next Monday, 4/15, at 9am, when all the WFRs are supposed to go out. But I had just interviewed with another Dell team this past week, was waiting to hear back from them.

Seeing lots of posts saying "Business Update" always means you're getting WFR'd. Anyone ever seen this meeting title and just gotten moved to another team, or PIP'd instead of outright let go? Or is it always a layoff notice?

I'm braced to get laid off, they've just given me all weekend to speculate.

I know one person in ISG (so far) that was hit today. Different role and group than the OP, so yeah, it does look like ISG is having layoffs...

@OP did you ask about update from your internal interview? If you didn't, you could contact the hiring manager directly or the TA person involved in the role and advise you have been selected for WFR and do they have any update.

You could also ask your leader to use their contacts to see if there was any open positions that you might be suitable for.

Take a close look at anything they ask you to sign… If it can be deemed as threatening to potential whistleblowers, the SEC might be interested in a closer look.

I'm a software engineer in ISG, 59 years old about 11 years of service, no email to speak of here. Not sure which group they're targeting.

OP here. I'm a SWE in ISG, US based. Thanks to most of you for the condolences and advice, I'll drop another post sometime after the meeting on Monday.

No, I'm not gonna take a screenshot. I got the email last Friday, 4/12. And I said the invite was from my manager. I'm indifferent if you don't believe me.

@1cni+1s1Etrki
I had plans to make, apps to fill, and stuff to get settled this weekend.

I love when people do these posts, ask questions, get answers and never come back to respond

After your meeting with your manager you will meet with HR. Let them know you interviewed internally last week and that could they help you in getting an update on the outcome of that interview.

Really? You got an email like that over the weekend? Can you take a screenshot and black out the private parts so we can see?
Who is it from? What org are you in?

Sorry to see you've got the dreaded invite. If you’re able to say, which org and country are you based, wishing you all the best for the future.

Mine was titled Business Update when I was laid off. I'd assume yours is no different.

Sorry.

Unfortunately, it is a layoff. Last date will be on April 19th. Not a PIP. Build your resume, LinkedIn , start getting your finances in order
