Please explain current southwest JOG

I’m recently in a southwest region non-management Surplus situation. Can someone please explain the current Job Offer Guarantee?

EVERYONE...I don’t think so! You must be a union steward or company official!

I’m not sure about JOG, however during the retail store closures my RSCs were guaranteed a job, as part of their Orange Contract. They all were offered WFH customer service rep positions. They were also told they’d have first pick based on seniority if they wanted to transfer to another store (same position). They took the CSR job, it’s guaranteed for a year. After that who knows. Check your union contract to see if they have a similar thing. I believe Purple and Black had the same guarantee, although not sure if it’s different for Techs or other departments but it’s worth looking into. I will say, I was a Manager, was so happy to get my severance and get gone. I am so much happier but everyone has different situations.

It used to be that you could be laid off in Dallas and could JOG for a position in Dallas. Now, they can offer you in St. Louis and if you turn them down, your screwed and out of a job if you don’t accept.

You are guaranteed a job offer within the scope. There may or may not be testing involved to qualify. If you are not qualified, then you will continue to be sent for testing on available jobs, until you have qualified . . . These will be lateral or downgrades from your current position. If you decline ANY position while in JOG , then you will be considered as resigned. But, with as few jobs that are available, you could be on JOG for some time. Just make sure you are ‘satisfactory’ (including attendance) currently.

These posts are not helpful. Sorry for your situation. My prayers go out to you and your family. It must be stressful.
My understanding of JOG is merely if a position is available, you have applied for and are being considered for, the hiring manager must fill the position with a surplussed employee over a non-surplussed employee to fill the position.
I maybe wrong but I believe that’s what it means.

Post ID: @1caj+170h1AMj This is the way it is supposed to work. If @OP+170h1AMj is test qualified, you should get a match. Don't let the company d–k you around or let the union be lazy. Make the company pay you, and make the union do what you have paid dues for.

I'm in the SW and would love a severance package. Which area are you in...trade you...I'll take the package and give you my job...I'm ready to leave this fiasco once and for all...
