Safer at home

I pray and hope for those of us that want to stay working from home can permanently. I’ve been become so comfortable being home that I believe it’s safer. I’m doing the same job as I would be doing in the call center. I’m saving on gas! My compute to and from was almost a hour. If you work in a call center you wouldn’t have to worry about others coming to work sick if your at home.

Didn’t seem harsh to me but thanks for caring about our feelings!

Ummm... yes you did agree to work at a certain work location. Nobody forced you to work at a VZ call center. When you were hired, they told you where to report to. You reported there. That means you agreed to work there. You should of said no and requested to work from home. But then, they would have moved on to the next candidate who would’ve gladly agreed to work in their call center covered by union wages and benefits. Oh I forgot, there’s “many powerful unions” that work from home.
Still waiting for that list of many😂

Just wondering, if we are working from home, how can we have union meetings or file grievances for overtime bypass. Our lists are posted weekly for overtime and we all know who’s working it by seeing their actual physical body in their seat at the call centers. If they’re home, we have no idea who’s getting the overtime. Overtime is the most common grievance so that’s why I’m using overtime as an example. Also, union meetings on Thursdays or whenever your local holds them, are very needed and brings camaraderie to the associates.

I’m specifically talking about the VZ union and call center jobs. Give me many examples of a union(since there are many as you claim) that has power and has a workforce that works from home. Tell us all the many companies and local union shops info please. Particularly... call center workers. Be specific as you seem to have many. Tell us the rate, pension and benefits that’s provided by these powerful unions that work for call center companies.
I’m eager to know who these companies are that have such powerful unions with people working from home.
Again... WE DO NOT WANT THIS TO BE PERMANENT. You signed up for working in a call center NOT to work from home.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but it's a bit presumptuous of you @1vsy+14Kfj8AP to claim the mantle of spokesperson for all with your "...we DO NOT want..." diatribe. Who designated you as the voice of the masses? Many, many unions, powerful unions, are affiliated with dispersed workforces. Could be that it's up to the unions that feel they cannot effectively operate under those conditions to catch up with the times, adjust their thinking, and at least try to meet the needs of successfully going forward under new circumstances? Be progressive rather than afraid of change. It seems there's few better ways to create anti-union fervor within the ranks than to appear to be going against making your membership's lives better IMHO.

I understand that your scared because our state governments and media are doing a good job at convincing us to be on house arrest while our economy goes into a depression and they want us relying on them.

That being said, working in a call center is what you signed up for. If you wanted to work from home, VZ call center jobs shouldn’t have been part of your job search.

If everyone is working from home, there is no collective voice, job actions, or even a fare grievance process. They can pick us off one by one. There is, and always will be, power in numbers. I understand that the union has been weakened over the years but working from home would just continue the weakening trend.

This is a temporary change that we DO NOT want to be permanent. Call center workers would end up being a dime a dozen. I get that you’re saving money on gas but commuting to a call center on a daily basis is what you signed up for.

Sorry if this seems harsh
