Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Chevron Nepotism

I was shocked when I read this article in Forbes about a Chevron Executive and how he was removing the barriers to move this daughter up in the company. Read for yourself. I guess this is just the world we live in now.

Kronyism and nepotism have been part of Chevron as long as I’ve worked here. The higher the management level, the more obvious the ‘special treatment’. What is a surprise is how brazen DP is with this story, and how a quality publication like Forbes fell for this entirely scripted story, obviously ghost-written by HR.

Well, @1zwk+1aLaNtIi, you are on this board so I guess that makes you a looser based on your own comments.

DP has been such a bad leader over the years only promoting his best friends and a*skissers that everyone is sick of him. He has dumped so many white males to make room for females that it should be a crime. He got his daughter hired onto CVX and has pushed her through the system bypassing nearly every requirement. The guy is bad news.

In fact, I think @1zwk+1aLaNtIi is DP and/or his daughter.

I was in a meeting one day and a female manager from technical team was asked to join a group to visit platform in GOM. They all went. The platform was all grated, not plated, and the female became frightened and stayed close to the group. When they wanted to visit +15 level, she wouldn't go because she was afraid. That right there told me allot about women in the industry ... most, but not all, will NOT do the same things men do to advance their careers ... saw it over my 40 years in business. However, rarely, I did run across a few females that were different and they rose faster through the ranks and were very well respected by all in the office ... they had my respect because they did what I did to advance.

Nothing new, have you worked in SJVBU? A narcissistic manager renamed roads and buildings with his last name. Like a dog marking his territory. He was let go but his sexist, chauvinist son has been protected by daddy’s good old boys...even after being investigated.

When I worked for a smaller, but public company they were dominated by a few key families that comprised of a good percentage of management. One learned quickly never to provide feedback or give constructive criticism to anyone about anything. I watched several high performers get chewed out because they thought they were providing mentoring to a college intern summer hire, only to find out that the lazy brat was someone's son or daughter and found it insulting that "the help" was providing feedback to them regarding a work process.

I've yet to encounter that here, but nothing surprises me anymore.

are you people really that triggered by someone who's daughter or son was hired and promoted? not about how you can find another job since this is the layoff.com? am I actually reading this right or is this a troll post. there's no way that this is a legitimate post nor do I give a flying flip about anyone's daughter or son or anyone else getting hired. but maybe I'm just not snowflakie enough for the losers on this board

Yes, that is pretty pathetic, they should simply not allow any relative of any Chevron employee, close or distant, to be hired at all, much less promoted. That will settle that. But that would probably mean cutting about half of the workforce. lol, that's kind of ridiculous, because many people were hired that actually are the best candidates, like all other companies who have many family members yet don't pitch a big woke -twit hissy fit about it. Wait, what is this thread even about an why does anyone laid off even care?

I love the big lie in the article where DP says, "In oil and gas, our HR system is set up because we want people to stay with us their whole career, whether they start out of college or when they’re 50.” Because of the long-term nature of energy projects, Dave says, “We don’t want people leaving.”

He dumped nearly every white male over 50 during the reorg. What a hypocrite!

This guy lies, lies and lies. It seems as if he just says what personnel want to hear even if there is no data to back it up and then he has to backtrack. Why do we keep him around?

It has gone on for ages. The Texaco CEO married the Corp secretary! The son of the Texaco EVP, who was d-mb as a nail, got a secret double promotion.

Wait does getting knocked up during a pandemic count as exceeding expectations? If so, my girl made the honor roll!

So embarrassing and revolting. How are folks expected to get a fair PMP evaluation when they go against sons and daughters and husband and wives of executives? Who’s going to dare object to the career move or give them a needs improvement? It’s No longer about performance, it’s about who you know, d&i, and everything but merit. Tell me I’m wrong please!

She’s moving through the ranks quite fast too. Wells sponsors trying to convince our field engineers who have been languishing on a rig for years that they need to put in the time to make it into the office and then the nepotistic folks not only get into the office in record time they make a functional switch in less than 5 years.

CVX spent thousands of dollars putting posters up of this executive and his CVX employee daughter on a fishing trip that cost more than my annual salary. I just don't see how the company could allow something list this event and then rub it in all of the employee's faces.

I guarantee we will never see a CVX executive with his son on vacation especially if they are both CVX employees with posters in every building.
