Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

RTO: Attendance and Monitoring Question

How will Wells Fargo monitor and report our attendance to leadership.

Who works in the department assigned to monitoring RTO? How will it work? How often will they report our attendance?

If we do not go into office will they immediately terminate us or will we receive formal warnings first?

I just received a report showing…. Badge swipes for the month. Who swiped, who didn’t and stack-ranked.

It's monitored by your laptop. Not necessarily just your badge anymore.

You shouldn't have taken the job if you didn't want to commute an hour.

Every single scandal in company history has been the result of in-person & in-office collaboration by employees. "We're better together!" Prove it.

You absolutely positively HAVE to be in the office in a hub city...so that in a few years we can outsource your role to India.

It's just so critical. Maybe they should focus their efforts on not being corrupt and having to pay all of these humungous fines. LOL!

correction to prior post: color coding R/Y/G is for coming in less than one day per week on average over the prior month (not once per month)

Badge swipe reporting has been available since at least 2018, when it was used for capacity planning in buildings and who got a fixed seat vs an unassigned seat.

Currently, badge swipe reporting is available in a self-serve tool to managers. there are summaries for every manager all the way down the chain, plus color coding R/Y/G for percentage of staff coming in 1 day or less on average per month. the current reports don't reflect login data, but that is available for a deeper dive if there are special circumstances - like someone disputing badge data, etc.

There isn't a central department enterprise wide monitoring - these are reviewed from OC down. Whether you're actually seeing it or not as a manager depends on how far down you are from OC and the degree of enforcement and/or jawboning that's happening in you business unit.

To answer the OP's Q about what will happen - there is written guidance to managers that for 2022 it is allowed to be considered as one factor in rating or bonus (if applicable).

For 2023 it gets stricter. managers are supposed to follow the performance management/discipline process - which means first - conversation with the person, and securing agreement on a date by which they will comply (documented in workday). if no compliance, or refusal to agree to go back, then it goes down the formal path of warnings, and then ultimately termination.

The focus right now is on those going in 1 or less days per week on average.

Probably a combination of logins and swipes, because neither alone is sufficient. There are thousands of employees who, in their role, might go to a location to work but not log in, and others that visit locations that have no badge-in requirement but log in while there. Pretty much have to have both.

@1vyi. 90% of the company is not bonus eligible so it does not apply.

Since day 1 of RTO, there has been reporting done on badge swipes. There is no team that monitors this. There are reports that run against badge swipe logs.

It is quite simple to have reports that run automatically and send out an email of it to your management chain.

The head of your LOB can get an overview report that shows compliance by teams ran by his/her direct reports. Your +2 manager can get reports with all the individuals who are not in compliance and notify each direct manager.

For starters, I'm not sure how they can take a 50% reduction in bonus when it is already 100% discretionary with no target. But, I'll play along. I'd happily take a 50% reduction in bonus to wfh. Hard costs for me to go in 3 days a week are between $5k-$6k for gas, parking and vehicle maintenance alone. Then add in the loss in 1.5 - 2 hours per day commuting. They can have that 50% and we both win.

It’ll be on MPP’s next year similar to Risk overlay. You either meet or does not meet w an Immediate 50% reduction to those in bonus eligible roles.

The best quants out of MIT will be monitoring by a combo of NSA issued cameras and black box algorithms. Be afraid.

Does it matter who how or when? Just know that they know what you're doing.

Monitor by badge swipes and logins.

CS and company may have talked about what they want, but there is nothing in writing. How can you enforce something based on a townhall call that most people tune out or do not attend? Can't - until we get something in writing I think we can continue to ignore.

@vbv+1kjpjev2 I am the only one from my team at my location. It’s a 1 hour travel to work on an agile team alone.
