Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

There’s not point in staying in Intel

I hope I’ll be laid off. Otherwise I’m leaving on my own. It’s been obvious for a while that Intel is circling the drain, and I personally think it’s beyond saving. From the perspective of an employee, our compensation in most cases is too low, there are hardly any career options in the company in crises, and there is too much chaos and too little on offer that would allow at least for advancing skills that would look good on a resume. For me, personally, it's a lose-lose and some more.

Just stay and consider yourself in a 5 year redeployment pool

Checking the math on this one. I can take less then a years pay to leave. Or I can stay 5 more years and not do a damn thing. I make more money doing the 2nd. Honestly don’t care what happens to Intel, I just want the money.

You will find out later that you wasted your time and talents at this place. Outside of Intel places are much better

Everyone is being sold the "long story". No-one wants to admit what is really happening.

Intel is embroiled in geopolitics, and the sooner you realize this, the sooner you start to understand why the stock price has been absolutely monkey-hammered for unknown reasons for a few years now. It's not an execution problem, it's a "certain foreign state wants to break it up so they can monopolize chip production after invading certain island countries and have control of the supply chain" problem.

@emc+1u6wL5Jl, Government employees have better pay, and much better benefits than Intel and they dont get notified every six months to take ISP, VSP, enhanced retirement. They also dont get worthless RSU's. Please don't go to government and mess that place too.

Yes. I’m more concerned that INTC may end up like ENRON.

If you find something better you should run. You are correct it is Enron 2.0 worst case, best case it’s Kodak.

On the flip side, having survived a couple rounds of Hunger Games during my career, this volatility can provide unique opportunities, should you survive. It can be fertile ground for advancing your career, best case. It's a jungle out there. I'm retired now and don't miss this part
