Severence and unemployment payments in Texas

If we the LR severance package, when can we get payments from Unemployment in Texas?

I've asked, but still waiting on a response. I also keep reading conflicting information.

You are eligible for unemployment benefits right away. I live in Texas and have done it after a Cisco LR.

if you take the package, then you are forfeiting unemployment insurance. Amazing how > many have not read their package. That goes for all 50 states.

That is IF CISCO challenges but they won't and never did to anyone I knew... However, if you are getting severance, you should try to plan if you will claim UI right away for Tax (it is not tax free), when you think you will get your next job, etc. etc. I won't recommend to view UI as extra money to pocket it.

Yes, you can get UI in Texas.

File ASAP if you haven't already.

@1xtu+1mBih8P0, can you share the details of the package? Since CR's start as CEO, HR has not published the details of any package and only shares the details w/ the impacted employees.

What has changed in the package that makes it "forfeit" unemployment insurance in all 50 states? I've received the package in the past, and while there was confusion as to whether or not "pay in-lieu of notice", i.e. the initial 60-days pay, would prevent you from drawing unemployment insurance immediately or if you'd have to wait for 60 days before drawing it in NC, I filed my claim and NC only delayed my claim for the standard 2-weeks that they disallow ALL unemployment insurance claims. AFAIK, every NC Cisco employee I've known who's filed their unemployment insurance claims immediately started getting checks after the 2-week block.

They can put whatever they want in an agreement/contract. Does not mean that it is enforceable or even legal to include.

Example, you can disparage all you want as long as you are telling the truth.

Texas doesn’t believe in personal rights so you won’t get any

Yes, you can get unemployment benefits in TX. I took the package in 2020, and got unemployment approved.
