Company should still be broken up so it can actually be managed. Too many arms with too many chiefs here, no cohesive strategies even within lines of business. This is what happens when you let insurance folks try to run a business.

Post ID: @1iso+141QG1Wq. Of course we have life exposure. But all of those policies are reserved per state insurance rules. Unless we have a plague, which this isntthe news not withstanding, our exposure is limited.
Investments is probably taking a huge hit, along with our. 401ks. Stay safe everyone.

@1xwa+141QG1Wq this is not true. Life claims are on the hook. It won't bankrupt the company though.

AIG expisure limited. Policies dont cover infectious diseases, but do cover natural disasters like fires. Only one company in my research was offering infectious disease coverage, and had little demand until now, when it's too late to get civerage for this event. So exposure is limited.

Travel Guard may have extensive claims, but new business is essentially going to zero for a while.

Like many insurance coverages, it seems business interruption is complex. Does anyone really understand this and, if so, can you help me? Will AIG have to pay out claims for business interruption due to the Corona virus? It seems it's not covered under a standard policy, only through the purchase of additional coverage...something like outbreak of communicable disease??? And, even if it's not covered, I wonder if the government might try to strong arm insurance companies into paying the claims.

Poorly managed company regardless of the COVID 19 situation.

The Dow Jones is up by 4 % today. I would suggest that management and HR monitoring this site, spend more time watching the news, and less time riffing people, because AIG is going to need all of these people when the massive claims roll in.

All business stocks are down due to the Corona virus. Watch the news.

I can only imagine the business interruption claims that will be filed. AIG also has the travel guard insurance business, which likely will have extensive claims.
