Ford Survival Financially

Heard from a Ford Senior Manager that 40-50% headcount reduction is required for Ford to even survive. Is the financial situation so bad? Can they fix the problems or go under in few years?

Ford Motor has a lower Return on Equity at 8.8% than the average in the Auto industry (15%) (Based on the trailing twelve months to June 2024).

Ford Motor has a high debt to equity ratio of 3.46.

The combination of a rather low ROE and a high debt to equity is a negative.

Avoid investing in Ford Motor.

It is marketing. When Wall St wanted China, they punished you if you don't go. Now Nasq is all about AI. The same China people 15 years ago will also choose to punish you if you don't have an AI contents. The tech job hoppers will come and go. They can't deliver anything other than warming the bench.

Remember that latitude was Argo, and Argo spent 5+ years and $1B of Ford money prior to that and produced absolutely nothing.

from the top of my head, SawStop, if you familiar with that company.
there are different sides, but they refused to license they technology.
If Tesla will figure that out, they will use that for their advantage, and nobody will force them to license.
you can’t sit on your a-s and expect people to bring you a food.
Argo AI failed, TMC very well alive and serving all those vehicles, they were startups Ford paid for, how many other startups will materialize or fail, its all moving forward.

No... You ever heard of supply base and commoditization? Eventually Tesla or Google will figure this out and license it for way way way less than what it would take for us to try to develop. Not to mention we are lead by grifters who never delivered anything this sophisticated in their life.

Ford is only spending money with no chance of return some of the plans are dead on arrival (L3 is no where near viable and latitude would need at least 5 years of real world data to do what they are trying to do) yet execs approve them to boost their resume for their next gig. It really is a sh-t show all this while our quality and brand suffers because everyone knows we make cheap sh-t and soon Chinese and Korean companies are gonna sh-t on us too. @1zud+1v7yxqnx

Bahaha this and they are paying each latitude engineer (500+) $300k+ to deliver absolutely nothing for the next 4 years. Ford is one of the d-mbest companies on the planet.

Is this the DF who said no more AM radio, then the BoD reversed his decision?

Well the day the days of 4-5mn units in NA are over. When I hired in back in the 80s there was only three competitors. NA auto sales went up to 17mn units but Fords share keeps declining. So either they get creative or except they are a minor player.
The current management team does not give me confidence they will make it. They blame everyone but themselves. Sorry BF & JF but you two have had a seat at the big boy table for some time. the results speak for themselves.
even if Ford were to stay with ICE vehicles they need to be more efficient. 9 pd centers around the world!!! That is ridiculous. just some boondoggle for a vp.

Company is only losing $25 million per day. Outlook is great!

They are cooking the books to boost the stock price. But senior leadership know that this company is in the red.

40-50% is an underestimate. It will take much more than that.

I’m with the other poster. At record profits why is such a drastic head count reduction needed? Maybe more details from OP would help.

  1. 3 B net income in a quarter, 3.4 B in free cash, very strange financial survival.
