Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Anyone hearing about rewards ?

Folks anyone hearing about rewards this year ? Not just restore, but rewards, raises, promos ?

I wonder each day why I should work any harder when there is no incentive to outperform.

Don't feel too bad, working for Pat is better than this CEO. Watch the entire 90 second video she doesn't really get going until about 50 seconds in:

You don't deserve a 'reward', but you do need a diaper change.

As someone has mentioned here there have been no "top" performers at Intel for a while, had there been any there would have been some top results of which there have in a recent while been none. What there has been a lot of instead is top grandstanding, bloviating and chest beating all against the backdrop of lousy products and falling sales. You have no reason to complain about no "rewards", people, be thankful you can still have a decently paying job here.

Base salaries are already too high compared with the work that is being provided. Top performers, which a lot of people on this site imply they are, typically are slightly better than average performers. They are usually better at preparing presentations and a$$ kissing.

If you really feel that you are under payed the market will show this, leave intel for the better offers that you must have available to you.

Everybody will get a star sticker. No trophies this year - no budget.

@1yrv - There are no top performers at Intel for several years now. You have average, below average employees, and corrupt, bloviating slackers who continue to pillage the company. That's it.

@1xux. You fail to get the grasp of fixed income (base pay), flexible income (bonus) and top performers for the organization. When company doesnt do well bonus takes a hit. Which it already has. Raises must continue or else this becomes socialism. Right size the company, but continue raises and promos. Without that the bloat only increases. Even top performers start behaving like bloat. Its very simple.

@1ieo, you don't understand the corporate world... Intel is by no means a startup it has been around for over 50 years. Your comparison is wrong. Intel has become a bloated inefficient version of its former success. The company peaked in the late 90s and has been adrift since the .com bubble burst of 2000. They need to figure out what the core business is really going to be and focus on just that until they get the company under control again. Everything else goes included at least half of the current dead weight employees. Rewards, that really makes me laugh, rewards are for producing results that matter not just for showing up. The participation trophies and awards you got growing up just set you up or failure in the real world. Get a clue, life doesn't work that way. There are winners and losers period. Intel is currently a loser, change that and you get rewards.

As of 2009, VelJohnson had homes in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Los Angeles, and resided primarily in Oceanside, New York. He has never married and has no children.

I have heard nothing about rewards.

But I did hear from "TV Dad" that you could save hundreds on car insurance by switching to Progressive!

@iwsn, then you dont know anything about the corporate world.

so you are suggesting all the companies which are pre-profit. early stage startups who dont turn profit, dont give out promos and rewards to their employees ?

Amazon didnt turn profit for so long, you mean they didnt promote and reward their employees ?

@iwsn So flawed logic.

rewards are for employees that work at companies generating earnings growth and outperforming the competition. Everyone knows that already.

@1otl. Is this CP or Pat ? Nice try.

Employees salaries are structured such that if company does well rewards go up, if it does bad rewards go down. You see that is the flexible part of the pay and that is Bonus. Till that everything is fair game.

But, beyond that reducing the base pay and not giving merit based performance is not the right thing. Then if you give such paltry pay, the you should expect paltry output.

You are missing the whole point around motivation and incentive.

Rewards? I am so sick of hearing that word. Come on guys, we suck. We haven't done anything to deserve 'rewards'. We don't have good products, our process is behind and our competition is ki-ling us. We ought to be happy we are even getting paid the high salaries we are getting, given that we are 'B' team (and that is being generous).

@dsn. So you are saying OP was fired in 2016 and he comes on this site, but you are not fired and you still come on this site :)

You can find people with such logic only at Intel.

Why would an Intel employee bother with questions like that on a site like this?

Answer: they wouldn't, this is a troll post.

If you are such a valuable employee and aren’t getting the pay that you feel you deserve than why are you still here? The company is tanking in all aspects that’s a good indicator that not many people are doing their jobs well. If you are doing just enough to get by than your reward is you still have a job. That might end after earnings next week. Intel is no where near the bottom yet.

Why bother, no one is working. Morale is down. People are just doing minimum to survive. Majority of people are working 3 hours.

Unless they give promos and raises, just doing bare minimum

I also dont want just stocks for future.

First compensate for last years work for promos so folks know that there is value in doing more than bare minimum. These hollow promises dont resonate any more.

They are ki-ling whatever meritocracy culture that was left.

Dont worry none of the executives will understand that they cant fire a lot of the work force, ask people to work harder than before, cut their pay and also starve their high performers of raises and promos.

Why in the world would anyone want to burn their midnight oil for this.

They had to fire people, they had no choice. But its MOST stupid move to not give raises.

Why would someone wake up every day and willing to work harder. People will slack and just wait for getting fired or get a VSP.

Seriously guys. Why are you even thinking of working harder. Chill out watch netflix movies during the day, put beauacracy as a shield and buy time till the year is over. When they agree to give raises for performance, then you can think about working.

"I wonder each day why I should work any harder when there is no incentive to outperform." You're missing out a lot pal. I take 3-4 free fruits everyday even though the board next to it says take to one, free coffee all day long, free internet for movies during work hours, come to office anytime i want. Man I'm living the best of my life here
