Doug Field: "Once you go full electric you won't go back." WRONG!

@1zjc - that’s high! I’d shop around. Our 2010 Fusion is $350 for 6 months.

My michigan car insurance is due and I am not buying anything new. My 2017 Escape is over $800 / 6 months. My 2009 Fusion is $500.. I can't imagine anything that is actually worth something. My agent has me g-n shy of ever making a claim.. I should have been an insurance agent instead of an engineer.

My historical vehicle is like $200.. I need to find an nice used white bronco....

I've driven battery electric vehicles and must admit that the driving experience can be superb. That said, I would not consider buying or leasing a BEV any time soon. The limited range in cold weather, long charging times, and limited charging infrastructure outweigh the positives many times over. I am also very nervous about the incendiary tendencies of today's traction batteries.

As long as the good ol’ boys are in charge it doesn’t matter how much work Doug Field does, the software and hardware will be cr-p compared to Tesla. The fact that we gave away our entire center stack to Google just proves that we can’t code and don’t want to pay for good coders. Doesn’t really matter though, with Bill Ford spouting his mouth off on the UAW, Ford will lose millions while the strike continues.
Mach-E only has a 37% rate, Tesla has over 70%, guarantee that’s because the Mach-E has a terrible center stack that’s underpowered. Add charging issues and you’re done.

Ford should stop trying to be a software company and start being CAR company.

Most of the new hires should work for a software company viewing the time they spend playing games.

Just a thought.

As Doug Field cashes in from Billy Ford including a parachute package to land softly to the next company to fool Ford slowly diminishes.

The public doesn't want EV vehicles no matter how much Government money is granted or how much propaganda from the naive so called critical thinkers is posted over and over again.

You would think a companies main objective would be profit by selling what people want instead of pushing politically agendas. ICE engines are still being developed along with Hybrid designs.........look no farther than Toyota. Also, hydrogen is still a possibility but maybe not for you soy boys...

Ford management has always been out of touch as to what it means to own a Ford. Now, it's the entire staff designing mobility products from their basement.

DF has no idea how few people come in to the office. Most of Ottawa is a ghost town when I go in. Managers only show up when a big whig comes to town, then they are back in their basement again.

So true!

"Model e and BEVs are the future for commuting. But Model e works from home!"

@jpv+1p8L5w3Q. Is the next level of mobility provided by Model E staying home?

I would agree with DF if: charge time is dramatically improved, charge infrastructure is in place and as easy to access as getting a slurpee at 711. However, I would never purchase an EV pickup truck......a daily driver in a warm climate sure I would consider.

DF is right and I bet you haven't even driven a Ford BEV with the latest features. With the next-gen Model e BEV's, those will take mobility to the next level.

I'd say take a current Lightning or Mach-E for a spin and multiply your senses and pleasure many times. You'll can realize what Model e has in store. Then you can come back to this forum and retract your statements.

I know critical thinking is hard for power users of this site, but did you even read the article beyond the headline?

“While some may consider that sobering news, the study notes that its data doesn’t mean that roughly half of EVs are going to be replaced by a combustion vehicle. Instead, a household’s next purchase could be a replacement for a different vehicle they already have”
