@1vkc+1pV01iGX OMG! EXACTLY my thoughts!!!!! Catering itself is a huge expense! They have sent a few of useless NSRL folks to China and UK with business class flights! Why not flying economy? Why not cutting expenses? Spent millions of dollars on projects that were abandoned before being finished!
Did JD got a pay cut to save a few jobs?

@1tyo+1pV01iGX if we are spending money on things like JdI day and Christmas parties and laying people off we have the wrong priorities. Our spend on catering for meetings alone could’ve saved a few jobs. Why not BYO and keep good people? Teamwork and culture isn’t only fostered by free stuff

@1ijz+1pV01iGX have a list of those affected. Either email or have a meeting with them and their managers and done!!!! Starting it with a secretive email on a Sunday night and then closing the whole building and then dragging it for the next 36 hrs is NOT the right way!

@1yah+1pV01iGX Nike HR calculates all of this to keep #s balanced, even during layoffs.

Oh, except for the "over 40" crowd. They like to get rid of the "over 40s" in layoff waves. They usually cost more than the young ones.

Nike usually does 6-7 interviews before hiring someone. Maybe they can do better when they part ways, instead if 15 min zoom call. Is it too much to ask? Someone needs to analyze the people that were let go, what were DEI %, what % were minorities and what % were tenured employees, what were their ratings for past few years.

Just curious, how does one “handle layoffs” better? Feels like it su-ks no matter how it goes down. Just asking.

@1zjd+1pV01iGX I disagree with insulting leaders but cut them some slack. Folks are scared, frustrated and they have been kept in the dark. Come on! This layoffs could have been handled better! A mystery email on Sunday night? Followed by a 15 min meeting early Monday??? Followed by 36 hrs of pure fear???!!!!

The amount of Stan-level keyboard warriors on here is wild. How would you like it if your name was blasted on here? If you hate your job and your leaders so much, do everyone a favor and just quit. My god.

What you said is indeed true! I have several direct reports who are clues about what they do! They show up late and check out early and always delegate their tasks! They just dress up in all Nike outfits, put make up on and socialize! They are way supported by leadership! Way more than myself as their manager!!!!

Does anyone know how many in the NSRL have been laid off? And what band levels?

It's sad how Nike requires you to be 100% loyal to them but they have absolutely no loyalty to good employees. There are employees who do as little as possible and they are always overlooked and saved by those people who they socialize with.
The hardworking people at Nike get laid off at a rapid pace because they are too busy working to socialize so there isn't anyone to save them. Nike's leadership should be ashamed of themselves for punishing those hardworking employees that put Nike first and awarding those that do very little.

@axf+1pV01iGX - I told them that I was laid off. No impact to salary and benefits, in fact got $25k more than what I was making at Nike.

Curious : did you have to take a massive paycut?

Also: were you honest about being laid off in your search?

I’m terrified people knowing I don’t have a job will hurt my opportunities

Just calm down, hopefully you’ll have good severance package to get through couple of months. Life outside the berm is awesome.

I was laid off 3 years ago, my first layoff. It was huge confidence ki-ler for few months. Eventually found a great role and very happy.

For all affected, Nike will give you no warning or be transparent about anything- like they were when I was walked. Prepare for all possibilities accordingly and know that there is plenty of life outside the berm.....and a much lower % of cvnts.
Good luck to all of you, you're more than your job and you're more than Nike.

How do I learn about being laid off? Is it going to be an email to my personal email or am I being pulled into a surprise meeting?
