Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Why is Morale Bad?

CIO actually asked this question during a meeting the other day. What planet does he live on? I guess it's easier when one pretends that lives aren't impacted by these decisions. Let's see if Accenture is as good as they think they are, because now they have to deliver because there aren't many of us left

Morale is no longer the question, the question is how long before all North American operations are overseas. This should be the only focus....since it would appear that upper management is doing it.
Every meeting I now attend I see the majority of the names are overseas. I also have difficulty understanding some of the staff overseas.

The sad part of this, I really like the overseas people.
The are respectful and proper. Not like the ugly\rude America we have become.

At the end of the day, I would like to keep my job but, it appears the sound of NA jobs going overseas is getting louder by the day at AIG.

Ill keep doing my job the best I can until the final day. Good or bad morale.

I believe that Morale will never ever be good in this company again. It's so toxic and Senior Management doesn't either know or care. Why would they. They will be given their 200% bonus again. With flocks of new Senior Management always flooding this company and getting a big pay out after 3 years while the average employee gets nothing...how can morale be good? They don't lead by example. Very sad that they are sooooo greedy.

It has been said many times. They just don't care. 35 to 40 percent of IT FTEs will be gone by the end of next year.

Here's a question I wish a TAP would ask JR during their group hugs: "Given you don't want FTEs here, why would I want to make a career here? Several recent TAP ptogram grads are already looking to move on from AIG.
AIG200 is simply a cost reduction exercise. The major AIG200 projects will not meet year end goals in this environment. They'll blame covid or the economy but root cause is the brain drain.

I totally agree with Post ID: @1zqv+15pa3ebW. I don't see Morale ever improving here. It's so sad because I worked here when Morale was really at it's best. The company has been taken over by self serving greedy management and don't care about the worker bees. Just sad. They take away more and more from them but give them more and more to do. It's a sin how they take from the employees and give to Management. Yes Morale won't return and Motivation is going down on a regular basis. They wonder why? Doesn't take a brain specialist to figure this one out

Morale is bad because many people simply do not care anymore. There is zero motivation to do anything more than the absolute minimum because you will not be promoted, you might get a percentage of your sti target, if upper management doesn't take it from you, and maybe, just maybe if you really bust your butt you might be rewarded with a whopping 1% or 2% cost of living increase. Meanwhile, the team you once had around you is gone and you are doing the job that 4 people used to do.

Think about how long you have worked at AIG. How many times have you received 200% STI like PZ? The message we generally receive is that if you get 100% you are very, very fortunate and you only get 100% for performing well above expectations. Really, that doesn't sound like a pay for performance program to me? That sounds like an excuse to take away my salary if you need to reward upper management. By the way, STI is part of TDC. If STI is a bonus, then take it out of TDC calculations. If STI is part of my TDC, then the starting point should be 100% guaranteed and go up based on performance. The whole system is ridiculous.

I wonder how PZ's performance review went:

BD: Ok Peter, the stock is way down, we can't make a profit in GI without backing out CAT losses, you are losing talent daily, we called in consultants to make the hard decisions for you, we are outsourcing everything so we can to keep this ship afloat. Good job, 200% STI. Now just stick around so I can milk another $20M for self isolating in Bermuda. Then, we can all jump ship with the cash. Sound like a plan Petey?

My opinion; people don't know the meaning of, "step up or step off"

A lot of desperate actors trying to hang on to roles by undercutting colleagues and badmouthing consultants. The mid/senior leadership are new, never been outside the US, and have no idea of the unique challenges of a company like AIG. Repeating the same mistakes of the last wave of management saviors that came in about five years ago.

As long as they can manipulate you, you are safe soon as you go against what they want you are out the door. They read from a script when they lay you off their smug faces on the webx it’s no wonder other insurance companies are so much better. They pay you to leave.

It’s not only him... many mid-high lev manager (lev 24-26) that are new to the company has asked the same question over and over; they all drink the cool-aid or pretend not to know (you can give them the real answer, but it’s not gonna make a difference). They come in for 1-3 yrs and earn a k–ling $$..then Out the door. Then the cycle starts again!

Ya what planet does he live on. He may want to start reading this blog for a start. Of course when you make the salaries they get, the bonuses, the stock, the outrageous STI and LTI's and a pension, how could you even have a clue as to why morale is so bad. It's not going to get any better either.
