Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Toyota investing in flying cars, what future business is Ford investing in?

Other than the failed Canopy Security, LLC, which took 5 years and cost $billions in investment, what has our “new business incubator” done for us?

@205x it's not bad to use ai, i meant to say i think they didn't check that snippet for accuracy (unless i'm the one that is mistaken). Gotta get out of the habit of saying that.

@205s i think they used ai because they said the federal ev tax credit can still be used and this was published a week ago and the deadline was september 30th if i'm not mistaken. www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/credits-for-new-clean-vehicles-purchased-in-2023-or-after

" Regional coverage from Dearborn describes how Ford Motor Co is significantly scaling back electric-vehicle plans amid what it calls crashing demand, even with incentives like the $7,500 federal EV tax credit still on the table."

but outside of that, thanks for sharing, sounds like the regroup is something that can be recovered from since there are temporary costs that wont affect things like lending when being rated

Toyota is still working on this project while we regroup and write off $20 billion.

The train station is useful now, the Ford employees are generating Detroit city income taxes and state tax breaks that collect all the Detroit tax money intended for schools, and giving it to the Ford family.

LOL, flying cars? How about fleet wide drone replacement of USPS delivery vans? ;)

Disruptive ideas usually come from outside the myopic focus of the traditional solution providers though.

I'm the 2nd owner of a '51 8n. as long I keep a set of points on hand, it runsas good as the day it was put together.

But other than the name plate, it's not the same company we work for.

Hey! Ford is the leader in useless old train stations. So let’s give credit where credit is due.

I know the kid who was working on flying cars at Toyota first. He was a contractor, still is. Essentially no benefits, no PTO. Laid off almost 2 weeks every christmas. I also was the same for 11 years there. I had more total patents than I got total paid days off during those 11 years. Do you really want to be like Toyota?

Just shut it down

Flying cars? Nope.
we already have multiple accidents everyday.

Now we're gonna have multiple aerial accidents as well? and they fall from the sky too. So that's so much worse.

We should figure out how make the vehicles on the ground work right before we worry about flying. I wouldn’t want to get a flying vehicle with software done by these lazy WFH software developers.

We should invest in door lock technology that effectively keep intruders out.
