Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Welcome to PIP season

PIPs are a great indicator of business health.
They crank up attention when results are bad even when tell wall street everything is great.

So how is it looking for midyear? More pips? Less?
Does the massive staffing shortage impact the pressure to write up arbitrary numbers of employees?

About 10-20% must get pips every year to prepare for any necessary rif, layoff, etc. They want to have documentation when though not required in some states. It's beneficial for their lawyers.

@2ajw - correct. Many managers are a little nervous of those that really know what they are talking about and are metrics busters, actually get things done. If you are beating metrics, things must be too easy, the metric just get tougher. PIPs are used to protect friends and purge others. Hon always looking to purge older, higher paid folks and higher a contractor as a replacement.

There are actually a couple of good ways of surely getting a PIP:
1: Be the best on your team
2: Be in charge of your team
Which increases your salary and gets you a PIP in your 50s.

The PIP reduced my workload and allowed me to use the extra time to get a job at a better company.

@2kcj

Only if they quit in that short period between locking the merit raises in the system and starting the 1-on-1s.

Half the department has quit over the past few months, last one quit with less than a day notice, nobody wants to deal with the PIP lottery

Strategies to avoid a pip.... lol, congratulations you sound like director material.
Your cool aide vaccination is fully complete.

"Be the best on your team" .. trouble is they never tell you when you start work that being the best has absolutely nothing to do with HPD or goals.
