It definitely seems like Gary is being groomed to take on a future C-level role at Cisco.

Is J2 sitting in on every decision Cisco is making like Gary is said to be?

It's my guess CR is planning to step down and GS will take the reins in the next 1-2 quarters.

How much you want to bet the next GS becomes Cisco's new CEO in 12 months or less?

Would be nice if Cisco announced Chuck is gone on the earnings call to show solidarity with the 10,000 employee LR announcement

Gary's has spent his short time here picking groups to either be sold or LR'd to reduce headcount by 50%

"Splunkers that know Gary best"

he was there for like 18 months and his only action was to sell the company, nobody there "knows" him

he was not loved at proofpoint.

Splunkers that know Gary best saying that he believes Cisco must cut 50% of workforce over next 24 months through a combination of layoffs and selling off non relevant BU's

Where does it show Gary is on retainer?
Is there a source for this claim?

LOL, Gary is playing the long game? He’s on retainer for about 2-3 years, then he’ll bounce because he doesn’t need the money.

It does seem like Gary is playing the long game, and is putting himself in position to replace Chuck.

Gary came into splunk and instituted span of controls for managing direct reports, cut costs in every area he could, did multiple layoffs, turned splunk slightly cash flow positive and then sold to Cisco.

It’s pretty apparent the Splunk board brought in Gary specifically to sell to Cisco.

I thought he would bounce too, but once he became 2nd in command at Cisco it’s clear there is a long game here. So perhaps step one was to splunk to cisco, then step two is to replace Chuck with someone more competent.

Prove me wrong or prove me right, I don't care! Just my wild speculation.

Chuck is home in Atlanta cutting and pasting Intel's 15K layoff announcement so he and Gary are ready in a few weeks

CR moved from HQ, that is not a coincidence.

CR moved to Atlanta for cheaper property, lower cost of living, and to be able to play more golf cheaply. It was a financial decision. Like they all are.

Reminder that Chuckie paid $28B in cash for Splunk and Gary got a nice chunk of that
Cisco now in debt when it used to brag about having zero debt

Are they quietly re-arranging the deck chairs? Does anything change or it is ELT politics as usual at Cisco?

Can't imagine GS agreed to let Cisco acquire Splunk without some assurance his share equity (now Cisco) value would be run into the ground.

Fluff? BS? Perhaps. Couldn't help but think about the recent Gary AMA and CR's MIA.
Earnings call may be interesting.

Usually when the ELT goes quiet, it means a change of guard is quietly in the works.
Not saying that is what is happening, don't claim to be an insider or have any info.
Just interesting CR has been quiet.
