What happened to the post about all expat roles in some countries being staffed solely by BTC, starting Jan 1 2024?

OP look, and this gos to all of you here, ExxonMobil has become an indian company. Soon like 80 percent of the employees will be from india. All expat assignments will be for indians FROM INDIA coming to the US. If you are of indian descent but american you are f-ked too. Only indians from INDIA will get these assignments, promotions and eventually they will make it to the management committee. We have to accept it. This is the reality of ExxonMobil. Then make your decisions. retire, resign or live with it. But there won't anymore expat assignment to any employees fromt he HC10. This is the new reality.

I predict our partners in our overseas joint ventures will soon refuse to pay full price for our cut rate brethren that are getting expat assignments.

Our partners can source the same at 25% of what EM charges for them.

False. India has a Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement with the US. Expats are not taxed in India if they spend 183 days outside India.

BTC expats in the USA are the same price as US employees. India requires taxes to be paid so two times the taxes paid by company plus have to do cost of living adjustment etc. Everyone thought their BTC expat would be cheap but look into the details and it isn’t true.

Not only is the base BTC employee cost a 3rd (or less), the BTC employees who go out on the circuit have greatly reduced expat benefits as compared to most counties.
So knowing XOM , we can expect a growing trend of BTC employees filling expat roles.
