Thread regarding Crown Castle International Corp. layoffs

What is the point of an energy efficient building when everyone burns fossil fuels to commute to the office?

It seems very two faced, insincere, and poorly thought out. If you really care about the environment then reduce traffic and don’t let your employees spend hours driving every day. Clogged roads make emergency services less efficient. Nobody wants to see news stories about ambulances and fire trucks stuck in traffic. Driving in the rain increases the probability of vehicle accidents. People are going to have to buy/maintain their home office supplies when they return their monitors and chairs to their corporate offices. There are numerous reasons to allow for full remote/WFH lifestyles. Have the people running the company fallen for the sunken cost fallacy in relation to the new Houston office building? If so, what training/LinkedIn learning videos can we recommend for them?

I thought business support was giving medical and/or religious exemptions to the vaccine rule. Did I hear that wrong?

To the guy who said

“Bootlickers ITT who need the office to escape their sh---y lives lol”

Believe it or not, it’s possible to like working in an office and not have a sh---y life.

so CC leadership has stated get vaxxed or you are voluntarily quitting. while i encourage you all to get vaccinated OR take measures to not expose yourself or others to this virus, this is a TERRIBLE message that leadership has out out there. There has to be a reasonable accommodation made, and per the message, they have not made provisions for those that have valid religious/medical reasons. also, per the messaging from Biden on what OSHA will be putting forth as an emergency or temporary safety measure, they have left the option of weekly testing as a way to satisfy this requirement. So with that, Crown would be foolish to impose termination on someone who doesn't get the vaccine but is willing to do weekly covid testing. This would be known as unlawful termination. All this being said, the vaccine is safe, and WILL help put an end to all this mask nonsense. Too bad CC "leadership" lacks the ability to treat the hard working men and women of Crown like humans.

Why has Jay apologize and emphathized so much with antivaxxers? So many people are worried for their kids or at risk family or their own health, but leadership hasn't said a damn word about their situations except to suggest mental health services.

I'm sure it feels scary and offensive to feel forced to vaccinate! as a show of empathy, it also feels scary and offensive when your kid gets put in the ER because someone watched youtube videos instead of actually researching the vaccines.

Sounds like a bunch of spoiled young’ Ed who want everything handed to them on a platter. Just shut up and go to work. If you don’t like it, I hear Waffle House is hiring.

No. I’m not a manager or BS. I’m just someone with years of experience working as an adult.

@2cvp+1cUoviGN The ones responding to this are mostly managers and HR. They are the ones without a real work load and cash for cushions. They can afford to live close and not make their own meals. Their bonuses are more than a couple paychecks. They get massages and fine liquors on business trips that limit our ability to get raises.
They have enough free time to downvote every post on Glassdoor and TheLayoff that does not fit their narrative. It is a sad and lonely existence where you have to pay people to maintain the facade on every online platform. However, they think the money will more than make up for those ethical sacrifices.

I think they did not like this:
"If so, what training/LinkedIn learning videos can we recommend for them?" because it hits too close to home. There are divisions in this company where their only purpose is to find and create content to "teach" individual contributors. These surface deep 5 minute videos are done in a vacuum and are incapable of being converted into real value. This hegemony cannot afford to have their ideas rejected. Rejection at that level leads to certain termination. It is musical chairs at that level of incompetence in any organization, and they will kick their mother to take her seat.

Ha, some people would say anything to play the victim because they have to drive to work. It will be Halloween soon... maybe you can play it off that you are afraid to drive to work because you might hit a witch on your morning commute.. all the more reason to work remotely.

Guys, just get another job if you want to work from home. This isn't that hard.

The easy explanation is that many companies, including Crown, do not want employees working from home. I think they have made this abundantly clear in the EMT video calls, FAQs and likely any conversation you have had with a direct manager regarding the subject. Now good luck finding an office close to you with so many being shuddered.

We compensate field employees for mileage and executives for plane tickets and meals on the road. Crown should compensate all employees for transportation costs.

Imagine Crown telling it's lowest earners to spend >15% out of pocket and expose themselves to unnecessary injury risk for the privilege of hours of unpaid overtime week after week! https://www.itdp.org/2019/05/23/high-cost-transportation-united-states/

This would be the perfect way to fight global warming: work from home, reduce the carbon footprint and consume less. It's funny how they throw money at the problem while neglecting the obvious.
