The criteria is a secret that doesn’t have to be revealed. I know absolutely one colleague with lower performance, less service, and less reliability (but younger) that they kept and let me go. I had a high performance rating (as of the last one they gave), and gave worked in all departments in the store at one told or another. If none of these were criteria, than what was? I wish there was a way to find out without hiring an attorney.

@2jdx+16I62yiR you should report it because it has been going on for far too long and people are hurting financially and emotionally.
Decisions this go-around was not based on performance ratings but rather on what needed to be done from a legal standpoint. I was required to get rid of one of my best employees because she was a white female and in the eyes of macys legal, we had "enough" of them.
Guess what, you can find out! If enough people make a complaint to your state human rights/department of labor department, EEOC they will do the work. Even better you alone can do it. Stand up for yourself and be brave. Don't allow yourself to be stressed and do nothing about it. Be encouraged!!!
What they did is unloaded all over folks that cost money but to cover their a– in a lawsuit they laid off all age groups that made more than $13 hr. I know this for a fact just because I was the only one in my dept making twice what you gets folks making The funny part is they all quit. They kept one older guy. Guess why ? He only made $13 hr.
