Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

VSP Final Hours - it’s almost here.

Anyone hear anything on the final number and last work dates or will they still be finalizing it on Tuesday?

I call BS on the blackmail to a raise gimmick. HR fights its without a verifiable, documented reason, and takes weeks for approval. It's based on the budget itself - so in the end... yeah right!

I expect it is reasonable that no matter how much you document and meet about all those active projects and secret 25+ years of knowledge that you are just going to get used as a scapegoat for years to go anyways right?

I know I will be blamed for everything because thet is how it works. I will actually keep my documentation up and work normal hours helping transfer anything though because I’m not a complete jerk. They are paying us alot of money to quit and you are going to take it as a personal attack? I’m glad I’m leaving before I turn into that person.

@2gjp+1tVgpDV5 this is utter BS. Salary and promotional changes take MONTHS. And there are NO retention agreements this time around.

@2qaj+1tVgpDV5 that's some professionalism you are displaying there. Don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you on your way out.

Good luck with knowledge transfer for those leaving in Sept lol. If after 25+ years you think you can get that info out of me…..as if I’m told sept for departure…you can figure out my projects on your own lol. They don’t care and I know it.

I know two people volunteered to bluff in to a pay raise ; they got it. They acting like hero’s even though they are not better than other team members.

The rate depends on the team. In GTS, some teams did not meet their planned rate expect the first round of RIFs or as Verizon likes to call it “ talent refresh” to happen in September. Some teams will RIF and then create openings again. I guess easier to do that vs. PIPs. Though have to wonder , what is HR doing apart from schmoozing or dozing off. Bottom line, all teams also have their RIF numbers and names ready.

Anyone who is not associated with major launches or SOX or year end close can expect to be released in September. Very few will be released in Dec or Mar. good luck everyone.

I really hope that everyone is successfully able to find a job that helps put bread on the table and roof over their head, if they are not staying.

Did they hit the number they were looking for?

Staggered release dates makes sense. We have money for payroll so it’s not urgent for employees to go, it’s an organized process. Time is needed to reorganize departments and refill jobs from within. Posting, applying, interviewing, transfer time frames . None of that is changed.

@1sqp+1tVgpDV5 Are you able to share what business segment you are in? Is it finance related?

No numbers. But had 2 in our group hit the button and they got December and March leave dates.

Dates are finalized. Roughly 14%. Majority in September. You'll get your email on 8/14.

Is that legal if it was refracted in that window. Wouldn’t it be safer for VZ to wait a few weeks and RIF this person?

Nothing concrete. But I do know some bluffers were caught with their pants down.

Know at least one person who volunteered to bluff into a pay raise, didn’t get it, then chickened out and retracted.

The RETRACTION was denied. HAHA!
