Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

2.0

Ok so why is it that reps are 100% phone adds, 100% upgrades and 100% total rev and still middle management wants to micro manage the numbers ?

Wasn't this the way it's supposed to be ?? As long as you are 100% across the board and 85% RIS ? The problem here is you have DM's and some GM's still focusing on 1.0 metrics micromanaging

I’m trying to look into getting a job on the wireline side, I’m sick of this. I have no idea if they will keep my start date as it is. I’m trying to find out what I can.

@2ffn+13L95un5 .So as a rep I totally agree with what you are saying but will also say most managers would disagree with you. Take December for instance....a fellow rep was 250% renew ,200% to new and 150% to bucket. Her ARD was low 70’s and pull through 14%. I know management was p-ss-d because she brought the store numbers down because number of boxes put out without a whole lot of accessories. Did she make a lot of money and help the managers money ? Yes of course but leadership doesn’t care about that believe it or not. They would rather it be that all working reps reached 100% on all levels then a few heavy hitters doing the numbers of two reps. So based on the new 2.0 model what do you think would happen if she put up numbers like that this year?

your managers get paid when you get paid on commission. a rep at 100% New/up and 100% rev is paying them. but a rep with a 1.2 new/up and 145% revenue is paying them more. You're in commission sales. The job is to make money for the company and get paid more for making them more. If you want guarantee and not to go over, yeah you'll be safe in your job by hitting 2.0 metrics. but if you not exceeding 1.0 goals (which tie almost entirely to pay) then you are literally paying them less on commissions. who wants to only get 1225 when you can get more?

@2qcv+13L95un5. Imagine when they take commission away... those lights won’t be turning on much at all. That will be the wild ride. Historically when a retail store goes commission free sales plummet. Even if its short term Verizon cant have a few bad quarters. They are cornered into keeping a commission program even if its an illusion.

micromanaging is making a return because everybody ditched ARD and the company was slated lose 7 mil+ in the Great Lakes region alone. This sent shock waves and made retail directors retract their messages, even some lying to GM's on how the message was interpreted by them.

Clearly the message hasn’t been disseminated clearly to you all. There are these people called “investors” and we have top line and bottom line numbers to hit. A strong RIS focus helps churn and image amongst competitors but it’s always going to be about numbers. The lights don’t stay on by themselves. A good DM/GM can filter that message to show how giving a great experience translates to revenue driving sales, but if you took this message as you’re now a cashier and nothing matters but a smile and friendly conversation, you’re in for a wild ride (and you’re completely wrong).

Here is the main issue:. 2.0 was just a talking point, not an initiative. But, because Verizon "leaders" are often reactive and not very proactive, the 2.0 thing took off and spread. Most managers we have were heavy into 1.0, which how they got promoted. Those same managers weren't trained nor seem to have the skillet for empowerment over micromanagement. Just wait till they get rid of commission!

That’s true but with the supply shortages we have now it’s tough. I’m hearing due to corona each ss will be given the target plus 20% to those that exceeded. Y’all think it’s legit?

They're not sure how to manage any other way. They're lost now. My management team is too.

The original metrics should still be a personal goal because it pays you, but at the end of the day if you're hitting the wonderful 2.0 goals, they really cant touch you.

So let them b–ch and whine. Ultimately if it comes down to HR, you're hitting the goals according to the 2.0 standard. You're safe
