Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Commissions....

This is terrible. They gave about a 20% bump in hourly, but I'm getting an 80% decrease in commission. And we're supposed to be happy about it and not complain. I was one of the top performers in my territory. With my performance last month I would have made 6 times what I made with individual commission last month. The brakes are coming on. Once the world gets some normalcy and employers start hiring again. Im going to piece TF out if this team commission is still a thing. Not one single store is hitting these goals theyre putting out. I'd make more money working for a sprint/t-mobile retailer.

Former top rep here. I took the severance and ran. 2 months after I started a new career with much more potential. Vzw is looking out for their shareholders and that's it. So happy I don't have to deal with vzw anymore.

@2sas+185LeCp8 My girlfriend is a manager at T-Mobile and they most definitely have hourly plus commission. We have friends that work for ATT and they still have commission as well as all the Verizon resellers. Even Cricket, Boost and Metro still offer hourly plus commish.

None of the major retailer have old school hourly + commission still but ok.... Tmobile is basically commission free. Sprint is gone. ATT is doing what Verizon is doing and honestly closing up corporate retail from what I understand.

The scariest thing is that Verizon is accepting the horrible results in the retail stores. Take the pandemic out of the mix and look at the sales actually coming in. All the metrics are way way down. The incentive has been taken away to try and sell more (or anything at all) so naturally profit per transaction has plummeted. All the major carriers except Verizon still have individualized commission plans, why is that ? Without a doubt the pre covid commission structure needed a major overhaul but taking away the individualization I feel is a major fumble. The irony in all of this is that the Verizon indirect stores still have commission. So in essence Verizon is saying they want a certain experience in our corporate locations but are ok with the major differences in the reseller locations. Keep in mind that the corporate to non corporate store ratio is about 30/70 going on 20/80 over the next year.

Its a sales job...w t f do you think commissions are for?!? When 60% of my income came from commissions how else should commissions be used for. The "rule" is don't count your raises in for new income. Not commissions. I know I have always had consistent paycheck until these recent changes. The only consistent thing is that the commission is smaller every month and i now qualify for Gov't assistance. Sounds like those telling the sales people to quit or stop complaining are the clerks that are terrible at their jobs that peaked in highschool or salaried boot lickers that are so far detached. Do us all a favor and take a long walk off of a short pier. Commissions are not "incentive" its part of the compensation for any sales job. I would take a smaller hourly for a higher individual sales at risk.

How many ops consultants does it take to screw in a light bulb at an express store? More than you would think. One to screw it in, one to mark it compliant in OMM, one to make a PowerPoint deck on how to screw it in and on to run a compliance report on screw in successes.

Too bad about the Winners Circle (jerk). Which is what is had become.

These stores are going to start going sideways they have been running in the red for over 3 years.

It’s not comissions anymore it’s an extra part time hourly check .

On a serious not i made the math on how much money Verizon is saving on not paying these president cabinets/winners circle reps . Think about it these reps were making $4,000 a month, let’s just say 1000 reps were making 4K checks. $4,000*1000. That’s 4 million a month Verizon saved a month not paying these reps . This is just a guesstimate it’s probably more . Crazy huh ?

@1hdq+185LeCp8. Yeah the company was super transparent and then just a few months into the new pay plan they changed the RIS multiplier schedule. Ironically they changed it because most stores were overdriving the RIS multipliers. FACT ! So of course greedy Verizon raised the bar making it that much harder to make an already tiny commission check. It’s one thing to move on from the old structure but then to tighten it up even more ??

They don’t quit because the money is decent considering how easy the job is. Now with Covid they won’t quit due to “lack of jobs”. It’s gona take a forced part time or lay-off for most people to realize this is not a career.

Company was super transparent about that upon roll out. Said not everyone will like and gave truth/ options. The company changed w full disclosure to high earners. It impacted you bad and that s—s. Nothing new here. It was recognized before it happened. At what time do you stop complaining and accept.

@OP+185LeCp8 Thanks for continuing to sell like you are on the old commission plan. That must go over real swell with your coworkers. “ If he/she can still put up the numbers then everyone else can too”.
