@2sgf+1siMPxXP. What on earth? Auto lamp features have been around for decades. The essential element of a vehicle is that it gets people and products to the destination in a timely fashion. BEVs just are not competitive with gas/diesel for any longer distance travel. Who cares about features if you are wasting time charging out in the countryside?

@2sgf+1siMPxXP I got those features a decade ago, so that's no longer an "innovation". However, I know what you're saying and it's true. The main problem is that Ford su-ks at software, which control most of features in the vehicle.

I think we should stick with the carbon-fuels for sure.
But if we really want to sell them - really make them continue to be desirable, we need to make them better.
Like - how about if the car detects it is raining for more than 30 seconds, the headlights are automatically turned on?
It's the law in most states.
Or maybe the windshield wipers on - the lights go on too.

So much innovation is subtle, but the people eat it up.

So after the traditional product development could not be trusted with BEV development they established "Model E". And since model E cannot be trusted with affordable BEV development they founded "the team at the West Coast". Looks like they are on a permanent flight from their product development.

excellent point xXP, 8:22 in the lightning makes a cameo. The math is easy enough to comprehend and it shows those who can do math that it doesn't work. Wishing is a fine strategy for MBA's but it isn't a strategy for the real world we live in.

@evb+1siMPxXP Just imagine if EVs were mandated and replaced all vehicles. The Turnpike service centers and truckstops would be quite the party on holiday weekends. We are a long way from being able to replace gas pump throughput with charging throughput. You can save your 21st century "progress".

Now this actually makes some sense. Most fuel consumption happens on launch. IE when you accelerate from a standing start to some constant speed. So if you can do that with a battery OR better yet, a super capacitor, the fuel required to keep you moving along is the energy needed to overcome aerodynamic drag and rolling resistance - more or less. Then you re-charge the capacitors when you brake - top them off at highway speed where the alternator is efficient and you can get an 80 mpge vee-hickle. This has always made sense, the full ev route was crazy pants from the start. Combustion ain't going away either. If Elvis were around today he might be driving an ammonia fuel hybrid Fairlane. Now that would knock the headlines off of any newpaper, bog or viral vlog! Meh, Mexican hybrids. Mooka-mooka.

EVs will never be mainstream unless the infrastructure supports it.

Not only that it needs to charge real fast or have some sort of battery swap at charging stations.

Because sitting idle at a random gas station in the middle of nowhere for an hour is not ideal and that's assuming you're the only one charging. Now imagine you have dozens or hundreds of people doing so. Good luck.

EVs are just another excuse for car manufacturers to make money. Why? The ICE cars have essentially been perfected at this point that it really doesn't need anything else. So the product has become too good that they can't make newer models anymore because it will essentially be the same as the older models.

So they push EVs to restart that cycle. Same how the candy bar phones have also reached its peak.

So now foldable are becoming the new thing.

You don't need an EV plus all that virtue signaling about saving the planet is made moot once you factor in the way the materials are sourced

I think Ford thought skipping plug-in hybrids and going directly to EVs would save the company a lot of money. Even I could see that the consumer paradigm shift is too much. Basic issues like lack of charging infrastructure and battery life/issues aren't there yet for a commodity product. It makes you wonder about the vision and leadership of the executive team, the BOD, and the Ford family. Ultimately, they are responsible for what happens to the company, but the employees will bear the brunt of their strategic mistakes.

All EVs will be made in Mexico for NA. The Mach e is already made there and still too expensive.
