Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

When is next update for rto?

Why tell us everyone has to go back to office and not have a plan ? Some of us have to commute or take care of others, so will need to hire help. How do they expect us to plan when they have no plan other than everyone needs to rto.

Going to be really productive sitting in a cubicle listening to people from other departments while they have to listen to me talk loudly on team with my team members that are all in other states. Brilliant

During COVID, I got silver shield award for helping business setup work from home strategy. Now I am being asked to RTO for no value. My manager told me that if I don't RTO then there is no job guarantee that some L3/4 is watching.

Protecting data is lies. How did they protect data the last 4 years when most of us worked from home? It’s about buildings sitting empty and there is a corporate real estate crash so they are just trying to protect their investments. No one cares about offices Andy. Maybe you’re too old to understand but sometimes old relics should retire and let others with an open mind take the wheel.

Protecting customers data is bull. If it was the case, why allow us to work 2 days from home? Also. Why allow people fro other departments listen to sensitive client data/conversation when you have no need to know? They tell us to sit in cube with people from other departments. In my department, when we were in office, we had to stop all conversations that is customer related because we aren’t allowed to let people from other people listen in to sensitive data. Now I am assigned to a space with people from other departments and they can hear me talk on team.

Also, if we have to carry our laptop to work, there’s an increase risk of having that laptop stolen since many downtown office locations have become very dangerous since 2020.
How is having your laptop stolen protecting client data?

How about the people with our data working remotely in India and other countries? They have no problems with our data in India

Im confused. HR is making decisions on who is to be onsite. So some of us that are required to go back now may not even qualify to work in the building???? Something about sales and HUBs. And non HUBs. I think we aren’t being told the whole story.

How can you make a case that there is a risk to information by working from home when indeed there is a chance that you’ll send someone who is in a non-sales position to work from home???? Are they not working on the same data?

Say I live in Salt Lake, probably not a HUB. I’m not in a sales position, I’m actually someone that doesn’t generate income for the bank. If there is no space for me where I was supposed to go back to, you’re going to be told to WFH?? Isn’t that contradictory to the “we have to protect the bank, there is too much risk WFH”.

@2tmm+1r3AgA5Q You are a clueless id--t. Some of were hired long before COVID as remote workers and have never been based in a USB office. So lumping everyone in the same category demonstrates your serious lack of intellect. Now, get back to your cute little cubicle, troll.

They spent years hiring remote workers/managers, doesn't matter where you live -- Idaho, GA, Wisconsin. Now major amount of meetings are on Teams. Where does RTO fit in with that? People aren't even in the same time zone.

@2tmm+1r3AgA5Q -- Nice to see that a HR lackey is making comments here. Look, one thing that COVID-19 showed us is that WFH works for a lot of employees. If I can be just as productive, or more productive at home, why not allow those of us that can do so to continue to WFH? Obviously, Andy and senior management isn't concerned about productivity, only about seeing pretty faces sitting on their butts in an office.

What did you do before? You were expected to go in before covid, what did you do then?
Just because you got comfortable doesn’t mean that you are now entitled.

Now the management is scrambling holding meetings to come up with the next scam of how to brainwash us to go to the office. How about the times have changed and we are over this bs.

It's hilarious how sloppily they've handled this. Why not just have some specifics from the start instead of it being half-assed where people have 10000 questions about how it works

“ I'm pretty sure many that work from home don't exactly work 9-5 and look after their kids the whole time. I'm pretty sure they make up any time spent on kids working early and late”

If you really believe most people make up the time I’ve got oceanfront property in Montana for you! My experience being back in the office is people playing on their phones. If they do that in the office what do you really think they were doing at home?

To the person that said.

"People complaining about having to now get child care are who wrecked it for everyone. The company isn't paying you to take care of your kids. I personally don't care if you have your kids at home, but shut up about it."

Even if wfh you should have care in place for others during working hours. This includes childcare or other caring responsibilities. You shouldn't be doing both when you're being paid to work as you can't be fully focused on both at the same time.

RTO is a horrible thing.

I'm a middle aged GenX and even I know that.

RTO isn’t a bad thing. I understand the frustration of you were hired for a home based position and they are forcing you to start coming to a office setting. The ones who were hired on in a role that was based in an office setting and were given the luxury of working at home during the pandemic and being asked to come back zero sympathy. If it’s that big of deal find employment elsewhere.
