Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

This will cost us in the future

In their infinite wisdom, upper management seems to have decided that since they already tried doing subsurface work with geoscientists, now they will try without - because, what they heck.
Why not!

They brain drain, the opportunity cost, and the impact on future hiring will be a heavy toll. Maybe algae will render finding and producing oil and gas pointless, but for a company which is dying on the petroleum hill, doing it without petroleum geoscientist seems id–tic.

Visionary leaders and their artificial intelligence and their make believe portfolio of prospects.

An on point post from @fnt+18evz2KL.

Guyana sure! She’ll beat us to the withdrawal and we had to drill a hole. We got lucky. They actually picked the one they thought would fail! Guess what it didn’t and then the one they said was a gusher actually was a dud!

But hey we didn’t over pay for a Brazil block by 750 million either. Oh wait we did, and they didn’t take the advice from the team.

itd+18jcDvTG If you work for Exxonmobil and have no idea what a geoscientist is then that says more about you than them.

Visionary leaders and their artificial intelligence and their make believe portfolio of prospects.

I have studied the leadership thoroughly and found no evidence of intelligent life.

Wow people get so ugly on these threads. I do not have a lot of faith in Exxonmobil these days but truly believe they employed some of the best geoscientists in the industry and am sorry for all this happened to. I wish you all much greener pastures.

Ignorant post, OP. We still have at least 600 rock-monkeys on our payroll.

What is a “Geoscientist”. A geologist who studied rocks and got a Bachelor of Science? Or is it a Scientist who is over schooled and received a doctorate? I’m old school and just started hearing of “Geoscientists” on this site.

We can contract it out to India, China and Vietnam, the lowest bidder wins.

It’s almost as if for the last few years the goal has been to destroy the company from the inside.
