Nearly half of Buick dealers take buyout rather than sell EVs

Buick offered buyouts to dealers who did not want to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars on tooling, equipment and training to prepare to sell and service EVs.

@2xjk You are absolutely right. I just bought a car and the dealer experience/root canal is enough to make you want to yak. I get very happy when I see bad things happen to dealers.

Dealers are one of the worst things in the car business... EV's are even worser than dealers.

I read no n Zerohedge that many Ford dealers don’t want to sell EVs either.

I bet GM is happy with this situation. I remember a couple of years ago, OEMs were complaining about the glut of dealerships. Getting rid of a bunch of them might just be in their christmas wish list.

I dunno. But I'd say the consensus position at this point should be that of common sense and it looks like in terms of the profit forecasts, that is where they are leaning. They really just need to decide if they still want to be in the business or not. Because the OEMs are asking them to run themselves out of it while they make this transition...big ask. Amount of F's the OEM gives = 0.

Are we rooting for dealerships now?
