Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Complaining

Please tell us all how it’s working out for all of you on here. You say it in here but do nothing about it . Most of you will never leave unless forced out so give it a rest and post something worthy instead

@rcr

Congratulations and great work! You stand out here as one of the few who has picked yourself up off of the floor and taken action to escape.

That’s how it’s done people!! Follow @rcr’s lead!

@3hvt, it all makes sense now, boomer. This thread is just you yelling at us to get off your lawn.

@2ili

Sorry… Never cut and ran in my life. I’ve worked here 3 times, mostly on my own terms, and I’ve worked for two other custody Banks as well and other FIs. I could snap my fingers and be hired back here in a flash but I’ve already worked full time plus professionally since 1982, often with two full time jobs. Raised a family and put them through college with no debt. I have no need for more money and nothing left to prove. I’m quite content.

I worked full time for 46 years, yes… full time even as a teenager. I have never worked a job that I didn’t enjoy, and includes my stints here.

I hope that you too can actually find a work ethic, become engaged and love your work as I always did.

@2zmh, do you cut an run from everything in life? Perhaps you would be more successful if you tried to right things that are wrong instead of just throwing up your hands and moving on.
Are you a runner? The going gets tough, you run away.

@dur Is a lifer.

I cannot understand the lifer mentality.

@dur, what exactly has made you a lifer?
Fear of unknown?
Weak Skillset?
Fear of failure?
Afraid to make a bad move which would impact your family?

There are ways to get around all of these these barriers to your success. Post your limiting factors anonymously here and I’m sure that we can help.

@1gxf

Ok, Robin,

We know that you take home just shy of $8k weekly and that you’re sprinting out the door with the next opportunity presents itself, I’m sprinting out the door.

We all know the drive by CEO pattern because we are invariably cleaning up your messes.

The OP makes an excellent point.

“Please tell us all how it’s working out for all of you on here. You say it in here but do nothing about it . Most of you will never leave unless forced out so give it a rest and post something worthy instead”

Which is the same thing that I’ve been trying to say in a more motivational way for three years here:

Peoples… get up off the floor. Stand up proudly, shoulders back, head held high and network and be proud of your skills. Practice interviews, interview the Hiring Rep as they interview you. I was never a lifer nor could I ever understand lifers. I did work here 4 times, 3 of them completely 100% on my terms.

If you don’t value yourself over your company then you are and always will be a lifer. Stand proud without fear and do not be shy about discussing your abilities.

@OP, you should just move to another board. You just complain about people "complaining" but don't do anything about it.
If you're going stay on this board, just keep quiet, sit back and take it. Apparently that's your way of life.

I left a year ago but still like to check out this board to see what the latest is. I’m so glad I moved on to a better company. But when I was here, it was great that I wasn’t the only one here who saw issues.

Congratulations to you for picking yourself up off of the floor, screaming “No More” and taking action to leave. I’ve been encouraging people here on this site for years to leave, but sadly all remaining employees seem to either be too insecure in their skillsets to job search, lifers riding it out or suffering from Stockholm Syndrome and bonding with their captors.

It’s particularly sad for heads of household who stay and suffer due to fear of making a bad move and impacting their family. Been there, done that, and can assure you that nobody that I know of who has left the Bank is not far better off.

If this site is such a waste of time for you then the bigger question is why do you take the time to read and comment here. As for me, I'm past retirement age so not in a position to look elsewhere - only staying on as a way to keep my mind focused on challenging tasks. I hate seeing what is happening and I really feel for the younger employees (which is probably everyone else). Such a shame to see what has happened to this company. So many cutbacks at the "worker" level. Feels like a slap in the face when seeing how many new C suite level positions are being created. And the percentage raises received at that level are an insult to the rest of the employees who were capped at very low percentage increases over the last several years.

This has been a necessary forum that I have relied on over the last few years, that kept me somewhat sane. Also this is where I found out what was really going on....You heard it here first.

I resigned from the bank in July. I am now making 25% more money, fully remote and feeling tremendous relief. Oh, and my new company is not trying to steal their 401 K match, but are funding immediately, like normal ethical companies do. It is like waking up from a really bad dream. Place is run by a bunch of greedy vipers. Get out!!!!

It actually helps a lot. We find out what’s really happening within the company since everything spewed by the executives is propaganda. Also confirms you’re not the only one that feels the way you do and hates this place.

How does it feel to constantly troll this forum for uncle Todd?
