Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Inflation is Crazy

I feel like my paycheck is near worthless now. They wonder why people don't want to RTO, its because it cost a small fortune. I went into the city and old co worker said hey lets go get a salad. Not only was it 23 dollars for but after all the taxes and with a drink it was well over 32 bucks. Not long ago 30 bucks was the cost per person to take the wife out to a decent dinner.

@2adb, who do you think approved all those mega mergers so 99% of what you buy has to come from a giant corporation?
And that whole sitting on leases is fake news. They're wading through permit processes to try to increase production. And companies such as WFC who make money off the fed won't even do banking with the oil companies.
Meanwhile, a barrel of oil is traded 20x by shysters between the time it's extracted to the time it's consumed.

They started playing this game in the 80s and it has gotten worse.

We are an oligarchy. Democracy ship sailed a long time ago.

Corporate profit margins are way up.

Not just profits, profit margins.

Since this is a site with bankers I assume most people understand that we're being gouged.

Not because of a war or the POT uS, we're being gouged massiveley by good old American companies.

I think it's lazy to blame the lamestream-media, but in this case, you can check the facts yourself and then wonder why it's not a bigger story.

And then you can check out who owns 90% of the media in America (it's just six corporations) and see who sits on their BOD's.

Then I suggest you duck, because you're in for a very painful facepalm.

We're being taken for a ride. The oil companies alone are buying back 10's of billions of dollars of their own stock.

Oil companies that are sitting on over 6000 unused leases for drilling in the USA, so drill baby drill is a punchline not a real thing.

Good time to be a rich guy.

We’ve barely noticed food inflation in our household. We eat bulk lentils and chickpeas (both still only $1/lb) and brown rice cooked with spices, whatever seasonal produce sounds good, and olive oil from a big Costco jug. Avoid meat and processed food that has labor inflation costs baked into it. You’ll dodge healthcare inflation costs as well, as this is the healthiest food on the planet. :-)

If you live in NYC, LA, SF, you pay for it.

Soon enough, just the drink will be $32. I'm not that old, and I remember hotel rooms being under $10. Amazing what printing money does, and it's the retired folks and the working poor that will be hurt the most. It's sad.

We all banked away a ton of money WFH for two years. No gasoline. No parking. No lunches to buy. An extra 2 to 3 hours a day from no commuting.

Now it’s time for all of us to give back to Wells and show our appreciation. Let’s all give something back to Charlie for allowing us to work remotely through he pandemic. He did a great job and allowed us to keep our households together in a rough era.

Had to reduce my 401k contribution to pay for gas and parking for RTO now. And was remote before all this

I agree. I’m having to look for a very part time job. Had I received a fair raise, I also probably wouldn’t have to. It’s stressful.

@OP Where exactly did you go? Down south, I can get dinner and dessert at a southern cooking restaurant for about $13-$15 total..about $10 prior to the pandemic.

Imagine how the retired / fixed income folks feel. But don't worry, the people in power "care" about the elderly. As usual, that's the worst place you can ever be.

And it's just getting started. It'll get worse before it gets better.
