Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Voluntary layoffs being offered today

A friend was offered one today during her 1x1. Worked out for her as she was going to give notice anyway. And no she’s not in sales. She’s in finance at Dell. Anyone else heard of that going on?

I asked for voluntary redundancy today, nothing is being offered at the moment. It's a business unit decision.

It is top down, fancy HR policy and Dell core principles just for the show. EMC is worse with toxic work culture. Just fancy slides without real work.

@3enx+1oe9rC9L , At Dell getting laid off is not a humiliation. It is a mark of morality and strong integrity. Everyone at Dell knows the politics being played on hard working people if they don't subscribe to flattery.
If someone has survived 20 yrs at Dell, we know it they have played politics and backstabbed others.

I would not recommend this to anyone in sales. Any sales manager would not want someone on their team who is not 100% on board - so even remotely mentioning it is the start of your exit ticket, and gaslighting.

I know someone this happened to as well. She had been at the company for 20+ years, and in her case, I don't think she wanted the humiliation of being laid off, so approached them. She got the same package, but was proactively able to announce she was retiring.

Friend was offered voluntary layoffs earlier this year in May/June time frame as well. I don't think the package is any better than the standard severance package. For those of you who really want to leave, have an open conversation with your manager. He will likely be glad to get rid of you and save another job. If not in this cycle but in Feb cycle. The Q4 exit sales target is lower than the current Opex situation, that the leaders are hoping to manage through attrition

Dell will lay you off, if you try to move away from abuse and harassment. They expect you to continue to have mtgs with the lead who verbally abuses you. If you are silent and later mention to boss, they will lay you off. They will reward the Lead and cover up all complaints against her.
This happened. Maybe you can try this method if you want to get laid off.

I would advise everyone to take it if you are eligible.
