@3vjg+13hAd0W1, you made my point. Leave a job for the right reasons, and it sounds like you did. If you are looking to leave because of lack of job security, then you will find yourself leaving almost every job because there really is no safe job these days. The point I was making is leave a job you are not happy with, be brave enough to take the leap. Don’t wait for layoffs or the fear of them before you do it. You will be amazed how much happier you will be working for a company you love and respect. That doesn’t appear to be the case with anyone working for this company. It’s the ones that have been unhappy for quite a while, the ones that stay only for the money. I promise you there are better companies to work for that pay just as well. Staying at a job you you are miserable at isn’t worth it. I can speak for myself, if I was not liking my job, it typically was reflected in my attitude, job performance and morale. All of these things are contagious. Use this time as a time of refection. If a job starts to cause me too much anxiety and/or I am living in fear, then it’s time to leave. If I don’t respect the company I work for, it’s time to leave. If I don’t feel supported or feel just like a warm body, it’s time to leave. All of the above is why I left. Much happier now. And I have no idea what JAG means for whoever was asking.

She expressed “concern for me” and encouraged me to “reach out to my support system....” blah, blah, blah!!! I said to her- If you were so concerned- why didn’t monitor your staff to see what was REALLY happening?! All she cared about was herself, period.

There are lots of enthusiastic high contributors with high functioning teams who are struggling to continue thriving in this environment because they are terrified of losing their livelihood, they’re playing whack-a-mole trying to cover the same amount of work with 30-50% less staffing, or they can’t plan more than 30 says in advance because they have zero clue what resources will be available at that time.

We’re failing to meet service levels all over the organization because we’re too lean on staffing. No amount of having a “good” attitude is going to fix these massive gaps and we need 2 OGS employees getting lots of stateside direction to achieve similar results as 1 US FTE.

@3urp+13hAd0W1 Its more likely the team members who are 'enthusiastic' and 'happy' are those that are leaving after rrp. High performers just playing the game, who know when its time to leave.

To the a–hole who said to look at this “as a blessing and move on...” When I started working for Optum, my plan wasn’t to leave the company and I enjoyed my job. It was the ever changing initiatives and caseload that kicked my a–. It was my non-existent manager (forgot my work anniversary and b-day) on top of never being helpful! I did not WANT TO LEAVE. I DID NOT WANT TO QUIT SAME DAY. However my manager had no spine or backbone and refused to back or take up me (like the other managers did for their employees) so 💥 BOOM 🤯. I had to leave. I told her the week before how I felt dumped on constantly, but she didn’t want to listen.

UHG has failed to be a good place to work. If workers are unsatisfied, which the volume of posts suggests on this site, it means they have failed to invest in employees. It is correct and right that employees want to leave. But let’s not blame employees as prior post implies. It’s company who has failed their own. If they fail their own employees to be responsive, how would you expect their treatment of members to be any different?

If you are planning to leave after you get your RRP, you are doing your team a favor. It’s likely your team is aware of how you feel too so it’s time for you to go and open the door for more a more enthusiastic team player who appreciates a new opportunity. It’s sad that potential lay offs is what push people, who aren’t brave enough to leave a job they were not happy with for quite sometime and typically reflects in their job performance, to get off their butts and look for something else they might enjoy. So look at it as a blessing, maybe the fear of you losing your job is what it took to get you to move on and become happy. Complacency doesn’t equal happiness. It leads to boredom. Good luck in your new jobs.. it was probably long overdue that you leave.

No confirmation but lots of soft messaging in my department about moving meetings and other decisions until after 2/6...

Wish they would just get it over with. Sounds like another cut coming in March.

FYI: If you choose to continue to work during the 2 week layoff period, IT will deploy tracking software to your laptop. This is done to make sure you don't do bad things like delete files or share confidential stuff.

You don't have to work during the 2 week layoff period. You get paid for the 2 weeks whether you decide to actually do work or not. You can choose to be done the day you find out you were let go or be done at a later date. Several people I know "worked" for a couple days to network, transition projects and job search.

Get your finances in order this weekend and make a "what if" plan. Start working on your "go file"–copies of projects you've worked on, your contacts, anything you'd want for finding a new job, etc. It won't hurt to update your resume too.
