Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Everyone In HES Will Have A Job Or I Will Resign. Repeated twice in the last HES Town Hall.

Well, we will see on the 12th if we all have jobs or if the VP of HES resigns. A man is nothing if he doesn't keep his word. This will be how he is remembered when you look back on his career.

I always like pumping gender diversity too. Being a young, single and virile man. Every Saturday night I’m pumping a different ho. Pumping gender diversity to the max is my motto.

He’s a total fraud. He milked Macondo to build up a ridiculous D&C empire. Now he’s pumping gender diversity. It’s all bout his “brand” and getting his next promotion.

The guy is definitely ballsy. He reneged on his promise. He is staying in the job. The final one two punch to men was his panel of 10 women to answer questions. Well played showdog, well played.

Rest assured, overall HES as a function will suffer a larger percentage of layoffs than most other functions. HES is a service organization that does not make money, ever, its pure overhead. When in times such as these, HES gets hacked with a broad sword. Anyone who says otherwise is either inexperienced, uninformed or a liar. Leaders know good and well what is coming and what targets must be achieved. HES will be slashed across the enterprise.

“ This will be how he is remembered when you look back on his career.” That will be very true, @OP, but only by those who remain employed. Once an employee is laid off, that person is history and soon forgotten. Nobody outside the company will care about any person’s career, much less the VP’s career. Do you understand now why he can get away with that statement, even if he said it twice? He won’t resign because the employees who remain employed won’t hold him accountable. They’d be too grateful for not being canned. Always try to remember, when a company executive makes a statement, he/she actually phrases it so it can be interpreted two ways, all depending on the audience.
