Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Individuals who should be concerned

Speaking from experience on past layoffs here are the people who should probably be concerned about the layoffs

New directors
New people leaders
Redundant roles
Individuals near retirement
Individuals who live in areas where buildings have been closed
Individuals who point fingers at others who they think should be laid off (you got three fingers pointing back at you) unless it's your job to be making these decisions
Individuals who make above average crazy income

Anyways I don't know the results this time around just speaking from past experiences. I think anyone higher up with a brain would realize laying off TDA supporting roles during a time like this is gonna make a sh-t show.. These are trying times stay positive. No one wants to do this or go through this but sometimes it has to happen. I'm probably gonna be gone this time around.

57 @ TC 175000 in DFW. I think that’s probably above average for that level

I know about mental health, and sharing that I have found the cure. Maybe you can accuse me of being insensitive to others who don't have ability to wham bam, thank you I am cured and move on. Maybe. But I do understand mental health, and have overcome. Mind over matter. If I don't mind, then it doesn't matter. Simple as that. Over and out. Thus endeth the lesson.

Tell me you don't know Jack sh-t about mental health or neurodiversity, without telling me you don't know Jack sh-t about mental health or neurodiversity. 🙄

I was really concerned, anxious, and couldn't sleep over the while thing. But I have come to the realization that all this is beyond my control. If it happens, then it happens. I am just going heads down on work. Ever since I came to this realization, I have so much better. No more anxiety. No more nervousness. No more sleepless nights. My adult ADHD has been cured. Give me a woot! Woot hoot.

Yeah I would get a ton of severance but I am between 50 - 55. I want to retire when I am 60, not now. Also your older more seasoned employees are valuable (most of them), losing high performers at whatever age is just not good for the company. To be honest, I am not worried at all about being layed off. I know that sounds terrible but being here for 25 + years typically means you are valuable. I have seen many layoffs through the years and its typically underperformers, redundancies, and director level, especially those without direct reports. I am pi---d about RTO, but many of you will say that is old news. I think managers should have the power to determine who can work remote, they should also have input on who to layoff.

I am sadly one of those listed. More sadly I am not the one at the bottom making above average crazy income, you lucky lucky fellow soon-to-be-unemployeds. I'm in the San Diego office, I'm really looking forward to devoting a great amount of time and effort so that I can be intimately familiar and capable with Schwab's systems so I can get canned in a few months, it's super cool.

In my 15 years I can’t even count how many people Schwab has retired, I’m aware of 3 this year. Quite frankly when someone suddenly retires is when I know layoffs are coming. It’s very typical Schwab.

A few years ago an older QA Manager told me that Schwab pushed out older people.I thought they were crazy and dismissed them. Then they were laid off.

I've been here almost 7 years and just realized that I've never heard of anyone retiring from Schwab. 🤔

If they are close to retirement one of the best things that can happen is severance, so they straight up ask them if they want a layoff. Most have been around long enough they get nearly a year's pay and retirement. Win-win

because they have seen too much and CS is not able to squeeze the last drop of their blood as is frequently the case with younger workers, just saying

Why individuals near retirement? They'll be gone soon enough and that would be age discrimination.
