@3hab I agree, 18 years is a long time to try to ride the laurels of helping recover from WMT, while acting like a pirate ship to grab as much of the company as possible. I'm not seeing much else from the 'one trick pony' however.
@3wlb - They did save Intel's a$$ back in 2006 with Merom vs. Athlon/Opteron. But the problem now is that a lot of the best minds are going elsewhere like Apple or Nvidia. Just like in every other country, Intel is not attracting talent anymore for the past 5-10 years at least.

Let's face it, with 54% of US adults read below a sixth-grade level. There aren't enough engineers, skilled workers with high education that can be found in USA. Israel has a lot of smart engineers, chip designers, etc. who have a much higher level of education.
In USA, the kids only know how to play video games and look at their cell phone screens, use social media, etc. Ask them to do a calculus problem and watch them ask you "What is calculus?" Our kids are getting d-mber by the day and AI is going to take their jobs and our jobs. Save your money cause you're kids are going to need it.

Building a plant in a country currently at war, just a few miles from Gaza, has to be the most foolish decisions ever by any company.
When corporate common sense gets held hostage to mindless ideology, these types of decisions get made.

If Intel wasn't officially on welfare it is now... is Intel also going to get food stamps in order to keep up the free fruit benefit? I would expect some pro-Palestinian backlash which could have considerable impact on Intel's bottom line. A lot of countries worldwide aren't happy with the Israeli response to the Ha--s attacks. Think Bud Light when you want to look at corporate impact for getting in the middle of politically charged topics.

Chips Act Funding guidelines set standards to prevent funds from being used by recipients to expand advanced technology facilities in “foreign countries of concern.” It also limits how the funds can be used to expand so-called “legacy facilities” that produce older, commonly used chips. The restrictions on the funding remain for 10 years after receipt of the funds.
Bad timing for the announcement. Intel somehow escaped the ire of the BDS people who decided to focus on boycotting Starbucks and McDonald's... But this seems to have hit the news cycle...
I worked for Inhell for 22 years and was very proud of it, before they totally sold out to Israel. I'm an AMD fan now.
@api Israel is completely surround by countries that hate them. Building a chip plant there is just insane.
