The newest trend joining the likes of quiet quitting and resenteeism involves putting in just the bear minimum of effort on Mondays.

I find that if I put any effort above the bare minimum on a topic that actually adds value, it is quickly seen as 'problematic' by my supervisors, and I am 'put back in my place', and told to get back in my box and focus on some sort of menial task that is not at all challenging, interesting or providing growth, let alone creating value.

The culture here is truly something I have never experienced elsewhere. The profitability of oil and gas assets, even when run in such an inefficient way still wins out it seems.

Only each individual can answer the question themselves. Are they happy to accept such mediocrity, and act like a robot at work, or go elsewhere, take a risk, but have a chance of some sort of meaningful and stimulating career?

Our team has started BMM stuff and it’s not bad. We have no meetings on Mondays and never a Monday deadline. Monday start time is flexible up until noon and quit time as early as two. We update our calendars so the team and boss know our whereabouts. It sure takes the stress off Sunday. Mondays end up being more like a quiet Friday to catch up on work, hit the gym, enjoy a longer lunch break, etc. It works!!

There's so much turmoil in Chevron right now (are we woke? are we equitable? are we an oil company?) that it's pathetically easy to do very little, yet come out smelling like a rose - just attend all the D&I events, nod you head at Town Halls, and inundate your manager with spread sheets and PowerPoints. Maybe offer to help them put together spreadsheets and PowerPoints for their next presentation. Only trouble is you'll have to compete with the high-pots, who want to do the same thing.

@4lzs, I've given it 29 years so far and ready for plenty more. You?
If you love and enjoy what you do and are good at it you don't spend you entire life whining and complaining anonymously online.

Yea, to each his own but I have no desire to be a pathetic bottom feeding mediocre bare-minimum loser parasite with no ambitions nor goals. Cheers!

I’m not going to just stop at Bare Minimum Mondays. I’ll be setting the trend for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays (and my Fridays on).

Couple 'bare minimum Monday' with 'not there Friday', and you have why Chevron has stagnated!

To each his own, I have never aspired to be mediocre or just to do the minimum. That attitude is a recipe for lifelong failure.
