Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

I can’t say I would be sad if mass layoffs rumors are true

And I would be happy to be given severance and leave. I just don’t want to be part of this mess anymore, waiting for the next big thing that will come and we will sc--w it up. Intel needs radical change, very competent and visionary leadership, and a fundamentally different idea about the future of tech. As of now, there’s too much hype, but too little to show in the end.

@3mee The VP was talking about the 19 thousand dollar cap on the buyout beyond the 60 days of pay and sabbatical.

Overheard a VP (CCG) in a hallway conversation with his chief of staff. He claims there won't be any packages because the company is essentially bankrupt. They have been slowly moving work to low cost geos and pushing out anyone they can harass to leave. After AHM, they will just start cutting. He also said 15%, but not sure if that was budget or headcount. Anyways, for all of you hanging on for a "package", don't count on it. You'll be lucky if you can sn---h a free banana on the way out the door.

You know you can just leave without being laid off? Why wait for severance if it’s so bad?

Be careful what you wish for, buddy boy. The IT job market is absolutely awful right now with a lot of uncertainty this election year. If you get laid off, plan on competing for jobs with a lot of others who are also looking, and you have a boatload of H1Bs who are looking and would be willing to take less money. Also, many companies are freezing their job reqs until after the election.

Better do all you can to keep your job while you look for something else.

@1smn you probably waited too long. I doubt vsp will be an offer. It will likely be isp and the severance won’t be great.

I plan to accept the VSP this time. It' so sad to see Intel going down like this 😔 I had so much hope when I joined 10 years ago but now all I see is a growing uncertainty and loss of control and focus.

They need to cut half of the G8+ managers. I don't remember the last time I saw one step foot in a lab. All they do is "work" from home attending meetings (while not saying a word) and making the occasional powerpoint.

I'm hearing packages are going to be much smaller this time around. You should've taken VSP when it was offered.
