Thread regarding Ford layoffs

The bitter truth

  1. I say yes to all assignments (remember, at Ford saying yes is more important than actually finishing the assignment. If you say no, and logically / technically explain why it cannot be done in a timeframe, then you are a bad bad person ),
  2. Then I make smart/ witty/ intellectual replies to atleast one email a day or on a call.

And thats it. That is all you need to milk this company for a long long time
^^
ID @1wdo+1eoS7mD6, if it is still not clear to someone what is most important at Ford. There are of course more trivialities that are more important than hard work...

This post is so true. Got dinged on my PR for turning down a couple of "volunteer" opportunities, even though I knocked all of my assignments out of the park. Really d-mb. From now on I'll say yes to every ask, and then have delivery suffer because I'm over assigned. Whatever.

Yup, that IS the bitter truth.
And not just internally at Ford, even outside Ford people know what a mess we are now.
That is why, no one from top companies want to come work for Ford anymore. Especially more so, after some high level people left within 6 mos, or a year or two. I guess one VP left even before joining. LMFAO. Two days before he was supposed to join, after the much publicized arrival, he decided to go elsewhere. :)
It does not stop there. No one from the top universities even want to join Ford. Reluctantly, Ford now HAS DECIDED to go to lesser known university campuses - under an initiative that is so fcuking pretentiously named as if ..."The Big Ford" is coming to.. "you small people". Try to make this stuff up.
Check it out for yourself >> https://example.com/3qtgi80

PS>I do believe that smart people can come from any school.

Yes everyone just says yes to foolish projects and then staffs up and drags projects out for years.Give you a few examples.

The LL5 in our area allowed a vendor to analyze our area for security and technology holes. Now the whole reason the vendor does this is to sell Ford costly software ( to fix the holes). Well the vendor discovered a bunch of bogus holes. A senior person explained why the vendor was wrong. The vendor tech support admitted they were wrong- no holes. But the vendor salesman convinced the LL5 that neither the Ford technician nor the vendor tech support knew what they were talking about. The Ford LL5 signed a 2.5 million dollar contract with the vendor for software and tech support to resolve all the bogus problems. A huge multi-year project was spun up with PM and 26 technicians all meeting weekly and doing unnecessary work. The annual Ford people cost for doing unnecessary work is 3 million. All the senior technicians just rolled their eyes and pretend to agree with the LL5- it all pays the same. Go FORD!

Another example. 20 years ago a skilled tech spec found a vendor product that saved Ford a tremendous amount of $$$ by tuning resources and detecting things whose performance had degraded. The tech spec set up automated processes that kept everything running optimally. Then an LL6 who was jealous of the tech specs skills and reputation took over the group and started sabotaging every process that the tech spec had set up. The gullible LL5 played along and allowed the LL6 to de-install the vendor product. Well Sxxx hit the fan and splattered everywhere. The LL6 got transferred, then SRD, the LL5 retired. And then someone says we should just reinstall what the tech spec had installed for 20 years. The LL4 squashed that because he had backed the LL6 and LL5 in de-installing the vendor product. Instead Ford paid 1.7 million for an inferior product, and still to this day despite multiple projects headed by the LL4 has not gotten back to where they were before the LL6’s antics. Go FORD! Here the LL4 could of just admitted he had been played and solved the problem for less than 100K, instead he spent 1.7 million green dollars and 3.9 million in blue dollars (so far).

The opportunities lost because we are doing st-pid wasteful things is tremendous.

@OP. Doing the right thing gets you in hot water, at least in my experience. Some years back, I had a few rows with my clueless manager (now an LL5). He moved on to his new position, and I am still stuck dealing with the results of his actions.

I am pretty sure I can coaster for years in this company, without completing any project. I have already teammates doing it.

@3ntg+1eqS6VMr I tend to drag the projects that I believe are going to affect negatively the company, but never 6 months. The last one I did took me 5 weeks instead of 2, waiting to see if I could convince management not to do it.

The only time I did that was after 30 years and on the PRP program. My 'boss' gave me an absolute garbage assignment worthy of a high school kid, very degrading, so I did almost nothing on it for 6 months.

During the exit interview 'the boss' asked about the status and it felt so good to say that I only did about 1/10 of it. It could have been completed in 1 week if I wanted to.

I basically did nothing but surf the web for 6 months (full salary) on the several days that I had to come in. I felt a bit bad about it the time, since I was always a hard worker - but 3 years later I laugh about it!!! Plus - I was paid for 4 weeks unused vacation!! Didn't need to use it because I had so much time off.

There is nothing more important important to a Ford employee than kissing the right backsides to keep your own employed. Ask Farley, that exactly how he got the top job.
