Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Tracking now office network connectivity

In addition to badge swipes, they are tracking in office network time. A in office day will be counted if you are active on the company network.

Sorry… not going to help you game the system. Instead, why not recommit to your job instead of trying to get over on the Bank?

What the slackers here never seem to realize is that the Bank is begging for quality employees. You can whine and carp all day or be a professional and impress your manager, and you will be well rewarded.

The only thing keeping you down is your attitude. Ask yourself if you would hire you.

Unless you’re connected, just try for once to work. hard with a good attitude. Nothing will change until you do.

@Burke - our senior manager allows us to have the flexibility in our day. He does it because it works and he has always done whatever he could for us. The amount of cr-p we have to put up with in this place it really helps when you have a manager like I do. Yes I am in Westborough and I’m on one of the teams you’re talking about. I’m sorry if you don’t have this flexibility but I’m glad we do. I know that he will be instituting a minimum number of hours in the office soon but he is still leaving us with plenty of flexibility. I’m so thankful for all of the IS managers but especially BL. He cares for us and even though he’s busier than I’ve ever seen him, he continues to go out of his way for all of us. #bestmanagerever

2ony+1ppzJwfR UMMM, if you believe for one minute the bank is doing this to help us out in case we forget our badge then I've got some nice swamp land for sale you might be interested in!!! They are doing it to enable them to see who is not adhering to the "work in the office all day policy". If you forget your badge you can just tell your manager and if you turn up yellow on the swipes report they will just note that was the reason. They are NOT developing a whole monitoring system of IP addresses to help us out if we forget our badges. For the love of God ....

This is an epic battle between slackers and doers. Now where is my popcorn?

@OP
A little late to the game, Peter Parker. There have been posts about this every couple weeks for the last 2 years.

Hey is there a specific number of hours that count as in office?

I spoke with the people who implemented this -- it's only to help you. If you forget your badge it's how they track the day as in office. Not everything has a nefarious reason behind it.

Further relaxation of in office rules are coming next week, pertaining to excused days out counting as days in (such as sick WFH).

I say this as someone who hates rto and the BS tracking of it -- they're trying to improve certain things around the edges.

And we still see our former in office colleagues coded as WFH, some who have moved to another city and others that have not. Fair is fair, that’s unfair!

@burke I work in the same LOB as some of those people and they have already messed things up for us. We keep complaining and saying they're going to make it worse yet no one cares. It's interesting to see people in other groups notice this because they seem to think no one notices

We have someone here in westborough who drives into the office from RI during her work hours, stays for about 1-2 hours and drives back home all during working hours. We have someone who comes in at 6am-8am. We also have someone who comes in from 3pm to 5pm. It was bound to come to tracking in office network one day because of things like this. They will mess it up for all the others who follow the rules.

I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing. It's rumored there are people driving to the office on the weekend and badging in and then leaving so they don't have to go into the office during the week because the dashboard doesn't know the difference.

The footnote says “Implementation in Netherlands and Italy pending local approval” not that it applies to just one those countries. Check the attitude.

How do you know it only applies to Netherlands and Italy? I thought the comms said “subject to local law”

Stop spreading false or incomplete information. This applies to Netherlands and Italy only
